My Canon G9 Powershot will not switch on at all. It was working fine then the next time I tried it would not switch on. It was not dropped or was it exposed to water. It about 3-4 years old. The battery shows charged but when inserted into the camera it does not power the camera up at all then it shows it needs charging again??

A common problem on the G9 is they get a loose screw inside and often it renders the camera useless with no power after that common short. Camera likely has a common short that comes up on the G9 camera. You just need to get the camera serviced and you'll be back in business again. Your camera probably has a short from some loose screws which is a very common problem on your G9 model. Go to the menu for the camera and look for "SAVE". you should have the choice in which format to save the pictures. Select "RAW" and then exit the menu. The camera should now save in RAW format. Some one or something probably switched the setting (such as reset camera).

Usually this means there is a problem with the memory card part in the camera that reads the card. When this happens it will usually say either memory card error or card locked, even when the card is fine. i got the exactly same problem!!
i bought it on 16th/Feb, next day,17/Feb not more than 20 pictures i took, the issue comes (lens won't action while shift the zoom lever, but it's working ok while switch on and off the camera)
so i bing it to the shop with my angry, they just said to me that you must dropped the camera.

--but i sware i didn't !!!
now they took the camera to Canon base for the exam...
