Rides rough on road

I have a 2002 il35, with 50,00 miles. i can understand the noise in the front end from expansion joints in the road, but when i drive over a man hole cover on a very smooth street the front end shakes and makes a clunking nose. other than that the cars rides smooth roads. what is going on here. nick

My 2004 I35 with 65K miles now has a clunk near the right front wheel when I drive over even small bumps. I was told my struts were bad, so I had them replaced (for $1300 at the dealer). The clunk was not as bad, but after a few hundred miles, it is back again.

Check the front steering damper. The steering damper is a shock that is mounted horizontaly in the front. The damper is bad if you see oil leaking from it or if the car has high mileage and never been replaced.

SOURCE: 2004 Jeep Wrangler - Clunking Noise when shifting out of Park

It could be lash in the differential which is normal, but it could also be a loose u-joint in the driveshaft. Check the rear driveshaft u-joints.

SOURCE: when driving over 40mph front end shakes badly

Good Morning, I can imagine it is a bumpy ride after you do that. Normally with normal wear and tear the front suspension gets worn and it could be anything from a tie rod end to shocks or springs, and could even be ball joints there ae so many moving pieces up front what I would recommend is taking it in and getting a front end inspection done by a local garage and they can pinpoint which piece or pieces it is. Hope this helps, and if youhave any questions please feel free to ask.
Thanks,
Joey

Rough ride and sliding on snow

Hi Susan, This sounds like a tire problem. I find on my Suby's, that too wide a tire will tend to struggle with deep snow. An out of balance tire or out of round wheel can also make the car run rough. There is also the possibility that the car needs a wheel alignment. Have someone check out the steering components as well, to make sure there's not a more severe problem, i.e.: axles; ball joints; steering arms. This is critical so you can be sure your vehicle is road worthy.

My 2002 trailblazer makes alot of front end noise, mostly squeaking when i come to a stop, or go over a rough road. nothing feels loose. anyone have any suggestions?

It's more than likely the front lower A-arm bracket bushings. Unfortunately you have to replace the whole bracket, can't take the bushing out on these. Common problem for TB's.

Front-end makes a low rattle noise when hitting rough spots

I have experienced the same rattle on a 2002 Bravada since about 50,000 miles. I have had tie rods replaced. Later, I had tires rotated at a tire/maintenance shop and they showed me a slight amount of movement in the ball joints. They wanted to change them. I took it to a dealership. They checked the ball joints and said some play is normal but didn't recommend changing them. I am wondering if the noise is in the struts. It occurs on a slightly rough roads and even backing out of a driveway when the shocks/struts are working rapidly.

Front end noise

I have the same problem and it is the strut and maybe mounts (depending on how bad it is)

Whirring noise in the front-end of a 2000 Cirrus

it does sound like wheel bearing a cv joint dont make noise and then stop but you can jack the car up and in neutral try to shake the tire from side to side.to see if you have any play then turn the wheel by hand try to feel for roughness in bearing. let me know what you find. Phil.
