Hi, before removing and replacing, have you tried to clean it with an air can, if the fan works most of the time this helps and you will not need to take anything apart, just pick up one at your local electronic store, follow the instruction on the can and spray the air ways starting with the openning under your fan, start SLOW and gradually increase the air flow and be careful not to let the air pressure break the fan fins by sudden changes in the air flow... Hope that Helps

Hi
Compressed air is not a good idea for as couple of reasons:

1. Sometimes there is moisture in the can that will be blasted onto the board
2. It can cause dust to get wedged tighter in the fan and sink area

The only real soloution is to strip the laptop and do a manual clean, this is quite simple on the advents, as all you need to do is remove the large cover on the laptop base to access the heatsink and grilles, you can dust out ( hoover) the fan area and the cooling vents, if this proves to be difficult, obtain some thermal paste, remove the screws retaining the heatsink and lift out the fan and sink assy,
Clean and replace after regreasing the cpu top with thermal grease. Make sure fan connector is attached then.
Tighten the screws in sequence, replace plastic cover

Hi i have a laptop advent 8109 i need to open it

Remove panel at the back, remove keyboard from prongs at the top, remove HDD, remove screws holding down the laptop, remove heatsink, remove fan, remove ODD connector, lift out motherboard at an angle. Its really something that needs to be shown, but thats the order in which you need to do it. If you can figure out the "in-betweens", you will be on your way to a cheap repair!

How do I connect to web?

As far am I'm aware the Advent 4211 netbook is not able to connect to the Internet 'on it's own' as such. Unfortunately the word 'netbook' has been advertised with this product in many PC World stores giving the wrong impression.
The best and easiest way would be to look into mobile broadband solutions.
Of course, it wouldn't do any harm to try out your Vodafone USB on their laptop to make sure it works well enough! :)

I searched on-line and found your laptop is a rebranded MSI Wind netbook, I couldn't find the manual for the Advent but the MSI Wind manual is here: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=manual&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1474

Can ''Age of Empires'' run on a netbook via SD card?

you can if ur advent is running a windows format, if it is a linux based, you will need a linux copy, but yes you can! you have to install the game to the sd card, just like you would to a regular hdd. I have the original warcraft and warcraft 2 on an sd card, that i use with my ASUS mini....www.computereworld.com
