There is a red control lock showing since this button is on can't start washer how do i take this button off tried disconnecting machine held down cancel button for 10 seconds tried combination of buttons still control lock button still on

1. Found This HelpfulSometimes something will go wrong in your washing machine that will cause it to lock up or stall. An overloaded washer or a brief power surge can cause this. The washer may not drain or spin properly, or it may stop the cycle in the middle of the wash. Another cause may be that the washer was stopped before the cycle was able to complete. In this case, the washer will spin and drain over the next 24 hours, but it will stall before reaching the final spin. GE has two simple methods to reset the controls

For Newer Washers:

1. • 1 Unplug the washer.
     
   • 2 Twist the control dial around the cycle settings.
     
   • 3 Place the dial on any setting other than the final spin.
     
   • 4 Ensure that the water line is securely attached to the washer.
     
   • 5 Plug the washer back into the wall (making sure it has gone at least 30 seconds without power).
     

unplug the washer to clear the board.turn on the water after one min. plug back in and try again

Lock Function

You can lock the controls to prevent any selections from being made. Or you can lock the controls after you have started a cycle. children cannot accidentally start the washer by touching pads with this option selected.

To lock the washer, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds (on some models use SIGNAL button). To unlock the washer controls, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds. The control lock icon on the display will light up when it is on.

NOTE: The POWER button can still be used when the machine is locked.

MY WASHER WAS DOING BASICALLY THE SAME THING. I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOADER MODEL #GHW9460PL0. MY HUBBY REMOVED THE 3 SCREWS FROM THE BACK OF THE WASHER, UNPLUG IT FIRST, AND TOOK THE TOP OFF. WE THEN CAREFULLY UNPLUG THE WIRES AND REPLUGGED THEM BACK IN 1 BY 1 SO U WONT GET THEM MIXED UP. WE THEN TRYED IT, AND THE CONTROL LOCKED LITE STAYED LIT. HE HELD THE SIGNAL CYCLE BUTTON IN FOR 3 SECONDS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. WE THEN TRYED RUNNING A CYCLE AND SO FAR SO GOOD!! GOOD LUCK!

there is a button on the far rt of the face of the machine...you hold that button down. the button is called end of cycle signal.

but have you tried hold button down with lock emblem under it down for 3-5 secs?

Try the "End of Cycle" button to the right of panel front, next to Start button. Mine says hold for three seconds to lock/ unlock control.
