Check your bake element. Unually ovens use both bake and broil elements to preheat and just bake element to keep temperature. Your bake element is probably burned out.

Trying to cook prime rib that needs to rest in hot oven for 2 hours. How do I turn off cooling fan

that fan is a cooling fan but not for the food,it's to cool down the electronics in the oven like the clock assy. so it's doing it's job, that's why i tell people not to use the self clean feature on stoves or ovens, the temp. gets up to 1000 degrees and it will sooner or later damage the electronics in the machine,so if you're gonna use it use it after the holidays,i see people use it the day before thanksgiving, the oven stops working and parts have to be ordered or if it's an older oven you can't get parts anymore and they can't cook so that fan is a good thing.happy holidays.you have to set the oven on a low setting just to keep the oven warm.like 200 or 225,also some ovens have a warming draw under the oven door,if you have this make sure you clean it first,i've seen them filled with dust because nobody ever uses it.here i googled this for you

In edit mode my oven seems to warm up past the preset temps and trip the overheat relay, also in cool down mode when i open the door it shows the IR steadily going higher to 1000F and seems to stay in cool...

Bad SSR relay, te relay is shorted it keeps feeding the power to the it element . Or else bad IO board. You should know how to diagnose it though. Otherwise don't touch it

F3 error code when warming up - the unit does one of two things 1) stops before reaching desired temp - 2) reaches the desired temp and then shuts off

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F3 error code indicates a open/shorted oven temperature sensor and to solve this problem the sensor needs replacement. If you wan to be sure before replacing the sensor then you can test it with a voltmeter for around 1100ohms....if it reads more then this then it needs replacement however, if the reading is around or less then 1100ohms then it is the control board that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

My GE oven heating element heats red hot no matter what temp I put the oven on

Something is probobly wrong with the thermostat, it gets hot to warm up, but should lessen as it reaches your desired temp. If the thermostat is bad it will just keep going.

GE Model JKP12G0P2BG Wall Oven Bake Element Not Working Properly

The temperature sensor is bad. The broil element will work even if the temp sensor is bad but the bake element will not. If you measure the resistance across the contacts on the sensor, it should be around 20 ohms, if it is much higher (1000+), then it is bad and should be replaced. It is just as easy to replace as the elements and looks like a small pencil sized rod in the inside top of the oven. Let me know how this works out for you.

Oven Temp

After it drops temperature, how do you get it back to the desired degrees? It sounds like the thermostat isn't keeping up.

Oven shuts off by itself

When your oven reaches the desired temp. it shuts down then turns back on again after it cools down a couple of degrees and cycles like this during the complete baking cycle. If your ignitor or oven valve is getting weak it would cause this symptom.
