First, carefully lay the face of the TV down on a soft surface with the stand protruding over the edge of the surface, then remove jack panel cover on the back of the TV to expose the 5 screws holding the base on. Remove those screws and slide the base away from the unit. These instructions are also found on page 5 of your owners manual.

Lay the TV face down on a flat, cushioned surface. (Use a blanket or quilt on a table with the stand hanging over the edge.). Remove the jack pack cover to expose the screws. Remove all 5 screws (3 above and two lower down). Then slide the pedestal away from the TV. Use care or you may damage the LCD panel.

The manual is available here: http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/tacpassets-images/models/52lx177/docs/52lx177_om_e.pdf and the directions and a picture are on page 5.

I hope this helps.

    Screen, Image, Lines,

Check and replace its LVDS cable [the cable that connects its T'Con board to panel]. Re-seat it once and check, before replace it. Any loose contact with either side of this cable; or the cable itself is damaged, can cause this fault. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

How does one remove the Toshiba TV stand. There does not appear to be any levers etc to release it. We want to mount our TV on the wall so the stand needs removing.

ya we put four screws in the base of the stand you have to lay t.v. on a flat surface protect the screen from getting damaged by putting a blanket over it when u flip it over or lay it flat on the bed you will see the 4 screws that hold the base to the t.v., but if it's a model that's having trouble just leave the base on as you will probably be returning it the store where you bought it lol

    1. Carefully lay the front of the unit face down on a flat, cushioned surface such as a quilt or blanket. Leave the stand
protruding over the edge of the surface. NOTE: Extreme care should always be used when removing the pedestal
stand to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
    2. Remove the jack pack cover on the back of the TV to expose the pedestal stand screws. The jack pack cover can
    be removed without tools.
    3. Remove the five screws shown in the diagram below. This will allow removal of the pedestal stand.
    4. Once you have removed the five screws holding the pedestal stand in place, remove the stand from the TV by
sliding the stand away from the TV. The Toshiba customer service number is 1-800-631-3811. Hope this helps you with your problem.

    Toshiba 52 inch flatscreen

I have just completed removing tha base from a Toshiba 52 inch HDTV. There are 5 screws in total. Three about 8 inches form the base and another 2 about 4 inches from the base in the arrangement shown below

    (X) is a screw
    (l) center line

    X X X 3 screws 8 inches from base
    X l X 2 screws 4 inches from base
    ______l______ The base

Keep your feet clear as your undoing the last screw..the base slides out vertically downward and weighs about 10-15 pounds so keep your the toes, fingers etc safe. The risk of being sued may explain why Toshiba didn't this publish in the US manual.
