I recently picked up an older game, Heroes of Might and Magic IV get home and install. Install wizard runs fine except for one thing despite the fact it correctly identifies all my hardware, it tells me that my 2GB RAM fails to meet the 128MB requirement. Despite this, it says I can still run the game but it may run poorly. I figured since the game was released back in 2002 their code may simplyu not anticipate 2 full gigs of RAM so I press onward. Installation completes with no further incident. When I try to run the game, however, I get a blue screen. Something about cdd.dll trying to write a protected area? I tried using Ubisoft's support page, they suggested using the compatibility tab in "Properties" to an earlier version of Windows. This did not work. How can i solve this problem?

I have Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Running on Win 7. There were many patches to install before this title worked(on my computer). Have you installed all the available updates for it?

Here are 2 sites that have the compatibility options:
http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/compatibility-tricks-for-old-programs-new-machines/
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html

If that does not work, you can also try to set up XP mode in Win 7: (Note: you need to have Win 7 Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate for this one) Win 7 Home Premium does not support XP Mode.

I own the game heroes of might and magic 4 the problem is that i got a new computer (and threw away my old one) and while i have found my play disk for the game i cant find my install disk

You can't copy the game files from the old PC even if you had it. Unless you have a friend who also has the same version of the game, you can't really do much with it.
I checked ebay out, and found several sellers who have the game for $10-15, but the best deal I found was from Steam (www.store.steampowered.com) They have the newer version of Heroes 5 for only 6.69 this week only, normally it's 9.99 but still a good deal, or you can get both expansion packs for $20.07 on sale (reg. 29.99).
It's a good deal but Steam is an online thing, so you download it instead of receiving a game disc. It's handy though, because if you ever need to re-install it, you can through steam, and you don't need codes or anything either.

We have installed Heroes of the Pacific on our PC. When we click on the icon, the cursor goes into 'waiting' or 'going' mode for about 30 seconds and then nothing happens at all. The game...

Like many older games you first have to look at the original requirements to make sure they're met. See this page on the Ubisoft website: https://goo.gl/aYvH2r

You may need to install the game as an administrator and/or run the game in "Compatibility Mode" once it's installed (right-click on the executable file, select "Properties", and click on the Compatibility tab, selecting "Run this program in compatibility mode for:, and select Windows XP)

When I try to start the Equilibris mod for Heroes of Might and Magic IV on my new pc in Windows 7, it comes up with an error saying: ...h4mod.exe is not a valid Win32 application What can I do to change...

Right click on the game icon and select windows compatibility mode. Select xp. If it doesnt work try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. If it still doesnt work that means that it is not compatible with windows 7.

Im trying ti install heroes 4 and it say I need 128mb of memory... i have 2 gb of memory and says it fails to meet requirements...should i look for a patch? Im using windows 7. thx for ur help

Hello,

Your using Windows OS 7, which is fairly new. This is great for programs but not for games. Heroes 4 is a older game, so there are some compadablility problems.

As for your memory and HD space you should be fine since the requirements are low.

Solutions: Look for programs which allows you to run virtual OS of pervious generations of windows (such as windows xp). This should solve your problem. Otherwise if you have 2 HDD on your laptop/computer you can make one drive into a older OS. Then run the game from that HD.

Good luck, and rate my response.

Will not install with window 7. pls write how

If I am correct this game looks old, and if it is it probably isn't compatible with windows 7. Windows 7 is supposed to have a lot of backwards compatibility but it doesn't work so well just yet. Wait a bit and maybe microsoft will patch the OS to fix the compatibility problems, then you will be able to play your game.

Installs five crashes the computer when I try to run it.

HOMM4 is not compatible with the normal Vista Pro operating system. You can try to run the install in WINXP compatibility mode, and do the same with the game. I would also use the following URL to download all of the updates for HOMM4:

Minimum Requirements

It appears the game doesn't support your memory!??
Never heard of that before...
You should check for new mainboard drivers, or maybe the memery isn't correctly inserted on the pins on your mainboard.

If that's not it, you should probably reinstall your PC. Probably a little error in some Windows library that can't be solved by rebooting...

I suppose you can play other games on that PC, right?

Good luck,
