We were watching TV (it hadn't even been on for an hour) and it suddenly lost power. We unplugged it for several minutes and tried to turn it on again, but it still is not working. We also tried cleaning all the air vents and plugging it into another outlet. Any suggestions? Please help!
There is a capacitor on the main board the goes leaky and will prevent the tv from turning on. If you know how, you can check the caps near the flyback transformer and find the leaky cap if you are not a tech and don't have a ESR meter it is beter to have a trusted tech to do the repair. Depending on the shop cost should be around $79-$89 depending on if you take it in or have them do a home call.
You didn't mention if you had any raster or if your attempts to turn it on were by remote or local. If the set is totally without power you can try replacing the internal fuse. This is a mini fuse. Make certain your set has been unplugged for at least a half hour before attempting this. The set holds high voltages for a while, even when the set is off. If the set was off, but plugged in, you can have leaking electrolytic capacitors in the power supply that can cause some problems as well. So be certain that the set is unplugged for at least a half an hour before attempting to replace the internal fuse. The value of the fuse will be seen on the fuse itself. You may need a magnifying glass to read the value. If the fuse is blown, it only represents the results of a problem elsewhere, so buy a few fuses when troubleshooting this problem. The fuse opened up when something overloaded the circuit. The next step depends of what happens when the fuse blows. After you know this, you can proceed to the next step. The parts cost of repairing this type of problem may be minimal, but you will need to determine the complexity of the problem before you take it to the next step.
I have a magnavox 27 inch table model...
when I turn it on it looses power for a few seconds and comes on again for a few more seconds, this happens about 9 or 10 times before it stays on however the picture is blurry and looks like it is lowing power...

my magnavox 25" TP2575c101 just stopped working. Unplugged it - nothing. The outlet is good. I opened it up, there is a ticking sound on the right side of the circuit board. Any ideas ????
My mom has a 2004 Phillips Magnavox Model 27MS3404 that suddenly has no picture or sound, but the unit appears to turn on manually or with the remote control. Cannot find a reset button if there is one. Any suggestions?
