SOURCE: 65 INCH PROJECTION SCREEN IS SUPER BRIGHT

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB (NOT SHOWN IN THE SCHEMATIC). 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB

SOURCE: dm board (power supply) for mitsubishi rear projection tv (ws-55807)

Good day,

mohiuddin;

If the indicator stays on then you may have an DM PCB problem and to correct this do the the folowing:

SYMPTOM: Power LED does not stop blinking after plug in.

CURE: replace C9B01, C9B02,C9B10, and C9B11 (1000 uFD 16V) on the DM PCB. Replace them with part # 181P734030 (680uFd 16V).

The DM Board (PCB) is located on the very left side of the TV looking from back. Caution on removing Board and note what cables you disconnect to access the Metal Shielded Board.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

SOURCE: Green power light blinking all the time on TV

After changing a defective capacitor, my TV still would not power up. After using a solution I found on this site, I held the power and volume up button down on the TV itself for several seconds, the TV powered up normally. I did notice that you had to do this while the timer light was flashing. Doing so after it went out was not effective. I initially only replaced one capacitor which was noticeably defective, and the flashing green timer light eventually returned. I will be replacing all 7 capacitors and resetting the TV. As mentioned above, the capacitors may look good but in fact may be defective. These are high temp caps which breakdown under a load but function normally when cold. Several people have mentioned replacing the capacitors didn't fix the problem. It appears that you must replace and reset using this method to repair some of these TVs.

Have you tried accessing the led self diagnosis by pressing the menu button and Input button both in together and hold for 6 seconds on the front panel of the set. It should then blink a two digit blink sequence from the power indicator. which will repeat several times let me know the blink sequence and I will assist you.

My 65 inch projection TV turns off within a few seconds when I turn it on. Why? No pictures or sound.

If power light does come on and a few seconds later it goes off---do the self check that the WS65909 MITSUBISHI should have:

On the front of the set press and hold both the MENU and INPUT(OR DEVICE) BOTH FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

Power light should blink a two digit code--error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.

Let me know what code you get----it will repeat it several times---and I will tell you what it means.

Mitshubishi WS-73907 won't stay on

I suspect you may have a short in the horizontal deflection circuits or High Voltage transformer. If the set had a "great" picture, it may be worth fixing providing you aren't planning to upgrade to a HDTV anytime soon, otherwise I would use this excuse to start looking for a new set. Worst case I can envision with this set would be one of the picture tubes having a Short, keeping the set from turning on. That would make it unreparable.
