Your compressor was made by Porter Cable for Sears. The motor / pump is used on many different compressor models depending on tank size and style options. None of the models /including yours/ were ever designed for 115/220v. I did happen to see a compressor that was built for european destination that was 220v. It was easy to identify because it had a two round prong male plug (it could not be wired for 115v however). Good Luck

How to reverse rotation of single phase, 1/2 HP, 110V electric motor.

Changing the "polarity" of the start winding by swapping the wires over should reverse the direction. Lots of online motor-related generic and manufacturer information is available.

Compresor dont get current

Autozone.com has diagrams for free when you register your car on their site. You can test the low pressure cut-off valve downstream from the evaporator tank by disconnecting the harness from the switch and using a good size wire to loop into the harness.

If the compressor clutch kicks in, you have either low system pressure or a bad low-pressure cut-out switch. This is a test procedure. Even bypassing direct as you have done can risk damaging the compressor.

Besides Freon, compressors need oil, the right type, and a small amount. There are Freon cans which include an oil charge as well as sealers and conditioners to prevent or fix leaks. Remember that the system has a volume limit and more additives leaves less room for the Freon to work good.

If you have low pressure, it is possible that what is left is contaminated. Freon is a gas. Air is a gas. The system was suppose to start with Vacuum negative pressure by using a Vacuum pump(Loaner item). This means that total volume inside your hoses could be wrong. It is easier to understand when you consider the Freon changes back to a liquid and Air needs a much lower temperature to become a liquid. So you lose volume for the Freon to change back from liquid to a gas. It constantly cycles like this to make it transmit heat from the cabin to the outside.

I hope my solution is helpful.

How to change Emglo air compressor from 220v to 110v. Compressor is running at half speed when plugged into standard wall outlet. I bought the compressor new in the early "90's" and since then...

Hi Pete,
On the side of the motor on the label should be a wiring diagram. The diagram will tell you how to wire fro high 220v and low 110v ...
If the nameplate is single voltage only then the motor cannot be rewired for the lower voltage...
Also check the motor RPM nameplate as compared to the others...you may have a 1725 motor and the newer ones a 3450 motor...that would give them double the RPM's if the gearing or pulley sizes are the same...so.. if you have the right voltage and the RPM's of the motor are the lower, then you possibly could change the pulley sizes to speed up the compressor...

Lots to check and think about...

I need help wiring a Delta 28-280 model bandsaw from 220v to 110v. The saw came 110v from the factory, but the previous owner re-configured the wiring to 220v. I need it back to 110v. Thank you.

Rewiring the motor isn't hard, but be aware that you can hurt/kill yourself if you mess this up.

That said, manual is here.

Before you start, make sure you have a couple wire nuts (orange & yellow are a good sizes), a replacement plug, and some electrical tape.

1.) Unplug the cord from the wall. Go ahead and remove the prongs since you're going to need to switch it back to a 120V type prong adaptor. Don't put new prongs on until you've got things rewired. This will help keep you from accidentally electrocuting yourself.

2.) Open the saw base and have a look at the motor. There's a cover held on by a single screw. There should also be a wiring diagram on the motor that looks something like:1aa0c59.jpg

3.) When you remove the cover you should see three groups of wires. There should be numbers on the wires, but you can also figure them out by looking at the number of wires grouped together (see wiring diagram).

4.) You want to change from three groups of wires to two groups of wires per diagram, so when you're done, 1,3, & 5 should be grouped and 2,4, & 8 should be grouped. This is assuming your wiring diagram matches mine.

Make sure you don't have any exposed copper (cover w/ electrical tape if necessary). Make sure you have the wirenuts screwed on securely. Make sure you close the cover up and put the screw back in reasonably tight.

Put the prong on the wire, plug it in, and hit the start button. If you did everything right, it will start right up and no breakers will trip. If you goofed a pair, your motor may spin in the wrong direction. Otherwise, enjoy.

Wiring diagram

This model of cook top needs the 4 wire install because it has both 220v and 110v circuits. The forth wire is a neutral that operates the 110v circuit. You can move the ground of the 3 wire outlet to neutral, but ONLY! if the ground wire is insulated. What this will do is give you both your 220v and 110v circuits. The problem with that is your cook top will not be grounded. The best solution is to locate a neutral wire and tap into it, this will give you your 4 wire circuit. Your missing a neutral in a 3 wire outlet.
