Assuming that the door was not removed for the new element to be fitted, then it sounds to ne as thiugh the oven door hinges are weak.
The only solution is to replace both door hinges,
If the door was removed, then it could possibly be not fitted back correctly.

    Thank you for the reply.

The door was not removed during the element fitting, the second seems plausable as the oven is about 4-5 years old, i there any way for me to remove the door and re-attach it so that it would fit flush or would you just recommend getting new hinges.
Also any idea about how much these would cost before i look into this option.
Once again thank you for your responce.

    Hi.
I would advise you to replace both oven door hinges, as they are not adjustable.
They will cost about £30.00 from Hotpoint inc vat.

    Go to---

As for fitting, it is rather long explanation, I would advise you to log into the following site for more information for fitting hinges.

In the search box enter--Fitting oven door hinges,
You should find a video showing you how to fit the hinges,

Hi.
All you need to do is to remove the screws securing the cover at the rear of the oven compartment.
There you will see the cicular eloement, just undo the fixing screws, and ease the element forward, transfer wires onto new elemnt, , refit, and job done.

The bottom element in the oven does not work. Doesn't turn on. The top element is ok. We have a Hotpoint Crystale Oven (Purchased March 1990) Model Number: KE637KW1 Vic

The bottom element has failed and will need to be replaced.

You will need to remove the element by undoing the fixing screws and the electical connectors then when you have got your replacement fit it by the same method.

Remember to turn the power off before you start.

Is there a black pole sticking out that goes in when you close the door, my Hotpoint freestanding cooker has it on the right hand side, once this is pressed in the fan and heat starts, i had to replace it on my cooker as it went faulty and stopped things working (all I had was the main oven light on, these are usually like a little black box that are situated on the side of the oven just behind the main metal panel on the outside and will normally have 2 pull off spade connectors connected to it.
i don't have the same model as you but hopefully this mig help you.

Heat escaping, uneven baking, longer cooking times

Either the seals need to be replaced, or you may have weak oven door hinges, and the door is not closing properly.
Only solution would be to replace both hinges if this is the case.

Thankyou.

Main fan oven does not work, conventional main oven does work

The element is where you said and yes it can be replaced without removing the oven. Remove the bacplate from inside the oven and you will see the element and fan. Remove the screws from the element and gently pull it forward then remove the 2 wires and keep hold whilst you fit the new element. Replace screws in the element refit the backplate job done.

We have a hotpoint cooker UY46, our electric tripped the cooker off and , now the nob and grill works but the bottem/main oven is turning on and the fan is circulating but not getting hot ? please help ;(

You need to replace the element. Very easy job remove the back plate from inside the oven (4 screws) and you will see a circular element held in place by one screw in the centre of the fixing plate. Remove the fixing screw then remove two wires and refit new element job done.

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.

Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!

Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.

HOTPOINT DOUBLE OVEN mODEL uy46 BOTTOM OVEN NOT WORKING CANNOT CL

Hi,
While it is flashing auto ,you will not get the oven to heat up.
You must press the timer buttons in the correcf sequence to cancel auto.Refer to user hand book.
If you suceed with this, and the oven still does not get hot, then the element has probably failed.
