Ok, I purchased the batteries you recommended. What is the best way to attach them together? Solder?

The battery replacement for the PRONTO is not a consumer level maintenance procedure.
However, you can replace the 4 original EMX1600sS batteries . The battery model is
Tenergy 2/3A Size Rechargeable Battery 1.2V 1600mAh NiMH W/ Tabs
Those are a little smaller than the originals but with the same capacity of 1600mAh and can be easily found in the web. Anything under those specs should work.

Need battery for fhv1200

the batteries inside are made up or two battery packs
5 batteries each.. so 10 batteries total
they are Sanyo KR-1500 batteries out of production
the substitute is Kr-1800sc a little longer amp hour rating..
(so that would equal a little longer run time)
you will have to make sure you get batteries with the soldering tab on them... as you will have to solder your own packs back together.. you can probably get the batteries on ebay for about 25 bucks on up...
or you can get the made up packs for 29 bucks each plus shipping
Part # 5KR1800SCEW from batteriesamerica (just search that part#)
and you will still need to cut and solder wires together to make it work... so another disposable product
but that's over 58 bucks and you can get a new vacuum for 50.00 not sure if the new ones come with the new batteries or the discontinued ones....

Rechargable batteries need to be replaced

you may not need batteries just a new charging plug. if the batteries are damaged all you need to do is replace the handheld part of the pronto, this is where the batteries are located.

Brand new : battery charges to 60 minutes ( 8 hours)and by the next day is completely discharged.

It sounds like the battery has a faulty cell in the battery that never lets it hold a full charge or lets it bleed off. I would take it back and exchange it.

Could you provide a model number?? There may be some settings on the vacume that are continuing to use power even though it is not in use.

Thanks

I think I need to replace the main battery in my small floor vac - the one that can be hand held like a dust buster or work like a small floor vac. I need to know how to remove the battery and replace it...

I see my sense of humor is not appreciated...it was only a joke. Anyway, here is what you do: First, slide the battery cover off the bottom of the hand held unit. Remove the battery from the motor housing by pressing the tab on connector “A”; this releases the battery from the motor housing. Plug the new battery (LC-R064R2P) into connector “A”. When installing the battery the wires have to go in first and they must be placed in front of the battery or you'll never get the battery cover back on.

I need a new battery where can i get a low

The batteries inside the small hand held are NOT consumer replaceable. They are all soldered in place. If you are a handy with a soldering iron, you can replace the batteries yourself. I did and my Pronto 2-1 runs like new. I had it for about a year then it gradually lost its holding charge. I would only get about 2 minutes before it stopped.
Battery Replacement. First you will need new batteries. The batteries for the Pronto 2-1 are called NiMh 4/5 Sub C 2000mAh w/ TABS and can be purchased at Batteryjunction.com. You will need 8 of them. I paid a total of about $30 shipped. Next. Remove the 4 small screws holding the unit together. Once you have it apart you can get an idea of what is ahead. It took me about 45 minutes to cut out the old batteries and replace with new ones. Here are some helpful tricks. Use a knife to cut off the tab jacket about ¼ inch from the ends on all of the new batteries. Use a pair of needle nose pliers and tear off the battery tabs right off the OLD battery bodies. Replace the batteries ONE AT A TIME except for the group of 4 in the handle. The goal here is to solder the new battery tabs to the OLD battery tabs. This is much easier soldering tabs together than stripping and soldering the wires. REPLACE the batteries exactly how you see them. Add electrical tape where appropriate. Be careful when packaging the batteries back in place. I mentioned replace the batteries one at a time because this will allow you to verify your soldering. Press the on button and you should get the blower going. If not, you have a bad solder joint. Anyway, good luck. Jeff

I am looking for a battery for a westinghouse model wst1600a

I too was looking for a battery for the WST1500a. I took the charger and a defective battery pack to BATTERIES PLUS. They rebuilt the pack with new fresh and fully charaged batteries in a short time. The result was good and better then a new battery pack that had been sitting on a store's shelf for 5 years. The advantage is that they are new batteries with a correct charage. The cost was about 75 dollars.

BATTERIES PLUS is a chain and are available in many large cities.

If you need a new "case" for the batteries so you can rebuild the pack, they do have some "packs" on E-Bay listed under BP1600. It's always a "hit and miss" on E-Bay. The problem is that the current vendor lists the BP1600 pack as a Black & Decker part and doesn't know exactly what he is selling. There is no picture of this on the current listing which isn't good.
