My 5th generation iPod Nano got wet two days ago. It got soaked and wouldn't turn on, so I put it in a bowl of rice overnight to dry. When I tried it the next day it turned on, but it was locked. No matter what position my hold button is in my iPod stays locked and I can't do anything with it. How can I fix this problem?

SOURCE: wet iPod

i have heard (not sure if its true) but for phones if they get wet you put it in a sock and then in a dryer it will work, maybe it will work for a ipod but i have no idea if it works. Thats just a suggestion.

SOURCE: Ipod nano and ipod video 5th generation

First off, simply press the center and menu buttons at the same time to reset the iPod video. That is the common way to fix a frozen iPod.

In regards to the Nano, sounds like the scroll wheel is defective. We would recommend replacing the scroll wheel if a reset does not do the trick.

SOURCE: ipod has froze

have you guys tried a reset?

To reset your iPod:

  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Ipod went through the wash

I have seen it suggested across the web that placing the iPod in a bowl of white rice for a week or more can help to dry it out and soak up the moisture.
Don't try to turn it on until it has had time to dry out.
Best of luck!

Drop my i-pod in water now it won't work..

Generally when an iPod gets wet it is ruined, however sometimes you can save the unit by getting a deep bowl and some dry rice. Place a nice layer or rice in the bottom of the bowl then place the iPod into that bowl cover with rice and let sit for at least twenty four hours, I recommend fourty eight though.
Hopefully this resolution will work for you. Best of luck.
I've used it once on an iPod video and once on a cell phone both worked after words. :-)

first off DON'T try and turn it on get a bowl of dry rice and bury the ipod in it and let it sit for a few days check it every day and if the rice is wet this is good its absorbing the water and change the rice out, with any luck this will dry it out completely DON'T try and turn it on until your 100% sure its completely dry hope and pray that this works if it doesn't then sorry

I have an Ipod Nano that went through the washer machine and now it will not turn on....any suggestions????

sorry to say most of the time when people get electronics wet the first mistake they make is trying to turn it on when it still has water or whatever in it and they fry the circuit's inside, so unfortunately looks like yours might be dead, next time anything like that gets wet dry it off for a few days in a bowl or rice and remove the battery if possible and only after your 100% sure its 100% dry then try and turn it back on, sorry there's a slim chance you can crack it open and replace the battery and it might work but its a slim possibility

My ipod wet through the wash no longer responds to thecomputer connection, no life whatsoever

you might be able to let it dry out for like a week, also try and leave it in a bowl of dry rice the rice will absorb the moisture and might save it other than that it looks pretty dead sorry

I pod got wet wont work

Ipon the ipods case up. then Put the ipod in a zip lock bag full of uncooked raw white rice. seal the bag and leave it in there for 2 days. rice absorbs water. it should dry it up.
dont try to plug the ipod in or it will fry the circuit and you will destroy it.
If you need to know how to open an ipod case go to my website.
