To change a decimal to a fraction using the TI 30, insert your decimal number, then press [2nd][PRB].(the PRB button says F<>D above it for Fraction <> Decimal)
Calculation results will be displayed using fractions, r, and ?. When you press CHANGE, the display will cycle through the following display styles: • Mixed fractions (with or without ?) ? improper fractions (with or without ?) ? decimal numbers • Proper fractions (with or without ?) ? decimal numbers.
To change from fraction to decimal, all it takes is a keypress. (change key) .Not all decimal results (approximations) will be converted to fractions. Anyway, if you want to set the calculator to display decimal results only, Press SETUP Press 2:EDITOR Select 1:LINE.

If you enter an improper fraction or a mixed fraction with the the [a b/c] key it will be displayed as a fraction. This result being displayed you can press the [F-D] key to convert the fraction to decimal. If you do nothing else and you press the [F-D] key again, the original fraction will be restored.
However, it seems that you cannot enter an arbitrary decimal number and convert it to a fraction. The [F-D] key seems to work one way : from a fraction to a decimal number. You will only recover a fraction if the original number was a fraction.
To force a fraction to be displayed as a decimal number put a decimal mark at the end of the numerator OR the denominator. Fraction/decimal result is always decimal.
You can always convert a fraction to a decimal. The reverse may not
always be possible. Look at the example on the screen capture.
You
may be lucky and recover a fraction you have just converted into
decimal format, but you cannot just write 0.333333333333 and expect the
calculator to convert it to 1/3: The true fraction 1/3 has an infinite
number of 3's after the decimal mark.
