Apparently this is a known problem with flat panel TVs made a few years ago due to bad capacitors in the power supply. This same problem appeared in computer mother boards at about the same time so that the capacitors went open or shorted causing problems. There is videos on You Tube that addresses this problem see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZccykxrtX9g as a starting point and look around for other repairs
Hi - the capacitors check out ok on both the original and replacement power supply board. Any other ideas?
When you install the new Power supply board, make certain that the connecting ribbon cables are seated properly. The following repair sites detail almost exactly the symptoms that you described, and all pointed to bad capacitors. see:

Something just does not seem right. Your symptoms are exactly as others described. Even the new power board could be suspect. Check the continuity of the fuse down in the right corner of the power board. Your voltage just does not sound as if it is getting to the main board, thus the relay clicking and shut down. be certain that the power board you bought is a new one rather than someone sold you a ringer (E-bay is famous for this) Look at sitehttp://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.p...

Have re-seated the cables on both boards with the same failed results. I have read elsewhere that 90% of the time the issue is with the power supply board, while sometimes the Main board is the problem. Given the symptoms, does a Main board failure make sense?
Thanks!

Here's an update on this problem. I ordered and installed a Main board and the TV works like brand new. I now have an extra power supply board, but will keep it for when the capacitor problem appears. Thanks for all your help.
