The tv is having a cracking sound and there is spark inside. the tv is having picture problems everytime it is turned on.

  • Anonymous Jan 28, 2011

@dmathur62 yah, the solution was right. I dimantled the tv and have found-out that the high voltage was coming from LOT thru a tubing. The connecting tube was leaking and so sparks went off the sides of picture tube causing some cracking sound. I immediately put an electrical tape to the leaks instead of buying an assembly of LOT and it solved the problem. Thanks for the help.

There is leakage of high voltage from LOT (line output transformer) causing sparking, get this LOT replaced and do not turn the set ON as it may damage the complete set,one of the other cause of sparking is picture tube earthing is not proper, call some technical expert to rectify, memory loss is also due to this sparking.

High Voltage is escaping in the wire cause it's near a ground or touching a component.Try to isolate or tie the high voltage wire away from it.

Tv went crack while watching. Picture and sound went out & red light flashing.Waited a min, turned off and back ok with picture and sound returning concerned if we should continue using or not?

Hello,
As long as you can see and here the picture with no problems you should be fine. The tv's put it heat which make things expand and contract. Sometimes things creek and crack. I've had two tv's that do that. Don't hesitate to keep a fire extinguisher handy though along with some alarms.(houses should have these at all times anyways)

Popping sounds only during video/ you tube on tv from my computer.

Because of the amount of voltage required to run the older-style "tube" televisions, many problems, sounds and noises occur in tube televisions than in the newer, flat-panel televisions. Sounds occur for multiple reasons, with some being just part of the normal process these televisions run through in order to operate. On the other hand, some of these noises may indicate a problem with the television that could warrant repair.

Worn Insulation
Voltage against metal. Inside your television's tube, there are many wire parts that electricity runs through in order to make the television run. Usually, these parts are insulated with a rubber or foam casing that prevent the sound of the electricity. If the insulation surrounding these components is thin, weak, worn or absent, you are bound to hear buzzing, popping and cracking sounds coming from your television. While this may not mean you have to run out tomorrow and get a new one, the chances are that your TV's tube is working extra hard to make it all happen for you, and you may want to start pricing new sets for the near future. b> Static During Warm-Up b> Just like rubbing your feet on a thinly-carpeted floor can cause static electricity, the same can also build up inside your television. If the noise is relatively subtle, only occurring when you first turn it on, and not overly-disturbing, the chances are that the cracking and popping sounds you are hearing are just the television's way of warming up and getting rid of the unnecessary electricity. Bad Lamp b> Deep inside the heart of your tube television, there is a light-bulb fixture that makes the entire unit light up so that you can see a picture. If the cracking and popping sounds you are hearing tend to go along with the picture on the TV becoming unclear, it could be that the picture tube is failing. It is very difficult and costly to replace the picture tube on a tube TV, so this is an instance where you may benefit more from buying a new television than taking the old one in for repair. Hope this helps.

NO picture, but sound, picture is not distorted

Try changing channels. Power light is on, then it means there is power coming in, but no video signal is being received (audio signal is good). Try this: turn off the TV, take out the power cable out from the power socket, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in, and turn it on. It should work fine. But if not, then there might be a problem inside the TV itself. Go see a local TV technician.
