Please follow the instructions below for unlocking your Philips HTS 3371 Please note: Unlocking a DVD player may invalidate the warranty. Unlock sequences may not work with some firmware updates and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking your DVD player is done at your own risk.
1. Switch the DVD player ON 2. OPEN the disc tray 3. Key 9 9 9 9 0 using the Philips remote control supplied with the player 4. Press PLAY. The disc tray will close. 5. Switch the player OFF then switch ON again. 6. To test, play a disc from a region which was previously locked.
If it does not work the first time, switch the player off and back on, then try again.
This is a verified unlock method, but I was unable to confirm whether it works for players sold locked to Region 1 (North America). If you have a Region 1 player and the method above does not work, you will not be able to unlock your player.
You can only change the region code 4 times and then it locks onto that region. There are firmware upgrades for various model DVDs on the Internet that makes the DVD drive region free, but if you make a mistake in upgrading the firmware or installing the wrong firmware version then the DVD drive is turned into a piece of junk. The best way to solve your problem is to install software that defeats the region code so you can play DVDs from any region. I use a region free program fronm DVD Idle, it is not very expensive and there are other similar programs on the Internet. Use Google to search for them. Have a look at www.dvdidle.com
if you reinstall windows it will reset firmware...better option download and install any dvd (software "any dvd")this will allow any region to be viewed..so dont have to set region any more.
ps I wouldnt of set region code to any particular region cos of the fact you only get so many tries before it locks and sometimes its permanant if I was gonna do anything it would be to flash it with region free firmware.
u can find the firmware what u need to update here - http://support.vaio.eu/downloads/info/info.asp?site=voe_de_DE_cons&url=VAIO/Updates/EP0000145203.exe&ip=EP0000145203.htm
After that install to your computer anydvd so u dont need to change the regions
You can only change the region code up to 4 times then it locks on the last change. There are some firmware upgrades that can change the drive to region free, if you can screw it up or put in the wrong frmware upgrade then the DVD drive will be a piece on junk. I suggest you install a region free software that will allow you to play any region DVDs. Go to www.dvdidle.com to get their Region-Free software, it is not very expensive.
I have used this program for a long time on one of my HP laptops. It works a treat. I can play discs from any region without changing the region settings on the rom drive itself. http://www.dvdregionmaster.com/
