Does the vacuum seem to run forever and it doesn't seal?
Clean the black foam seals

Replace them if needed. they can be purchased from Tilia

Based upon Ed's solution, I need new black foam seals for my V845. The FoodSaver website does not show parts for this model #. Does anyone know which of the newer models uses foam seals with the same dimensions as the V845? (i.e., which ones will 'fix' my otherwise fine V845?)

    Thanks!

There is a pressure switch (looks like a flat red barrel) attached to the circuit board. When it senses the correct amount of vacuum, it triggers the sealing process to start. If this switch is not working for any reason, the vacuum process never stops.

On mine, one of the solder joints on one of the switch legs went bad, and one side of the switch wasn't connected to the board anymore. I resoldered both legs, and the sealer works again.

My FoodSaver will not activate when I insert a bag. The accessory unit works fine.

It sounds like you are having some issues with your FoodSaver vacuum sealer. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Make sure that the FoodSaver is plugged in and turned on.
  2. Check the sealing strip on the vacuum sealer to make sure it is clean and free of debris. A dirty or damaged sealing strip can prevent the vacuum sealer from working properly.
  3. Check the vacuum bag to make sure it is properly positioned in the vacuum sealer. The bag should be inserted with the open end facing the sealing strip.
  4. Make sure that the bag is not too full. Overfilling the bag can prevent the vacuum sealer from working properly.
  5. If the problem persists, you may need to take the FoodSaver to a repair center for further diagnosis and repair.

Vacuum doesn't complete before sealing the bag on my FM5330 Food Saver

Odds are it is dirty and the vacuum sensor is plugged. That makes it think the vacuum is complete. So it seals. Check the instructions or a youtube and clean it. You need to use the exact cleaning instructions. Odds are that will fix it.

Foodsaver V3835 seals but will not sufficiently vacuum.

Go on the Foodsaver website to get replacement foam rubber seals that contact the bag during the vacuum process.

Foodsaver V3840 Won't vacuum air out and wont go to seal. A label states the seals are not removable. Do you know how to fix?

you are not using a "good" bag. Make sure there are no holes and that the bottom and sides of the bag are properly sealed. It will run all day and not pull the air out if the seal is broken anywhere.

V3460: no response when pressing seal and inserting bag. What should I do? Thanks

  • Assuming that the unit is plugged in and the plastic bag is in the proper position.........
  • Press firmly and equally on both sides of the cover (where the three raised ridges are on each side). The 2 micro switches that start the vacuum motor are located there and require firm pressure to operate properly.
