Michel L'Heureux
Dear Michael - Your challenge might be in getting hold of a replacement colour wheel as a spare mount. You will need to dismantle a fair amount of the projector to get to the section required. The wheel may only be supplied as a sub assembly not just the wheel. Your best to talk to Sharp spare parts in your country.

No special tools needed. these units (dlp projectors) are designed so the lamps and color wheels can be changed out by the user. Some can figure out how to do this easily without instructions but to be safe just do a quick search and find step by step instructions. You can also refer to your owner's manual.

This sort of problem is almost always a lamp problem, regardless of the number of hours. The only way to verify this is to try the lamp in another projector that works fine, or a new lamp in yours. Testing the lamp in circuit is practically impossible for this model, and testing it out of circuit is unlikely to identify for sure what the problem is. If you need help sourcing a new lamp, please ask again and I will try to find you the best deal - prices vary wildly on these. Hope you can find another projector to test with :)

I think you need remote for above said process.
Get original Sharp remote for XG-P10XU from Sharp Accessories.

I've searched all over...heh, I've got TONS of Sharp service manuals but *not* yours...I did find, however, the xg-e650 manuals on manualsparadise.com. Sharp units, a lot of times, are very similar in architecture, functions, parts, etc. For example, practically any Sharp remote will work on your projector...BTW, the lamp you need is a BQC-XGE850U/1 and sells for $292-389 dollars.http://reviews.cnet.com/peripheral-accessories/sharp-projector-lamp/4505-8309_7-31382143.html?tag=mncol;lst

To my knowledge this manual is available on paper only. What is the problem you are trying to solve? Perhaps we can help you to solve it.

This would seem to be heat-related as these lamps get hot rather quickly. The first quick and dirty solution - try cleaning the filter which is under a panel on the bottom of the projector. Another fix - be sure the projector is plugged into an image source; i.e. computer or DVD player. Sometimes these units will go into standby mode without a signal. More difficult fix - be sure the fan is runningn. When it shuts down, the fan should keep running until the lamp cools, then it will shut down. If the fan isn't working the temperature build-up with shut the projector off. Replacing the fan may be a job for a tech.
