I have a kenmore coldspot 106.72152111 all of the food I put in the freezer gets freezer burn within a couple weeks, also my ice taste awful, is there a filter?

Best way to safeguard against freezer burn is to properly wrap whatever you throw in the freezer. Common hassle with self defrosting design since the air is always being blown around in freezer compartment. If you do that you will also cut down the possibility of the ice picking up unwanted odors.

The freezer compartment is easily damaged could have lost it's gas if you tried to remove the ice with something sharp. If the compressor is running all the time then it could be the problem.

Ice Maker WR30X0327 Freezing Over I have an

We have extremely hard water in the East Mountains of NM. Our refrigerator Ice Makers only lasted about a year before the Calcium from the underground Calcium just killed them. I solved the problem by buying, from ebay, a small restaurant ice-maker. I Always fill it with filtered water, and it has been chugging away for years. Our water tested Harder than an Hot-tub maker had ever seen, even after going through our old, Sears, water-filter. Ergo - how hard is your water? Could that be the problem. Just a thought.

You have a defrost condensate drain blockage where all the water from defrost remains inside the freezer compartment and causes the symptons you are having. I cannot tell you how to remove every model numbers freezer rear panel but I think that if you study over my link here=> Leaking Refrigerators and this link HERE you will get an idea of what to do. The freezer works well but the fridge is not cooling.

Classic symptom of: the connection passageway between the freezer and the fridge compartment
has closed off - usually due to ice buildup - or something clogging/blocking the passageway.
Your Refrigerator works by releasing cold air into only the freezer, then this cold air passes thru
a passageway into the fridge compartment to cold (but not freeze) the fridge compartment contents.
If this passageway is blocked, then just the freezer works, and cold air never makes it into the
fridge compartment. In the old days, you'd be told to defrost your freezer, since the blockage
was ALWAYS caused by frost buildup. Today, we have frost-free freezers, and your freezer may
simply have too much stuff inside - there has to be some room to allow some air flow around
items in the freezer, and whichever item is blocking the air passage to the fridge compartment -
just move it away from the passageway opening.

Water is leaking from top part of freezer down to bottom of inside of the frig. Frost is on the top of the frig in the frigerator.

FIRST STEP: UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR. AFTER IT'S UNPLUGGED, DO THE FOLLOWING:

Remove the food from the freezer compartment and place inside the refrigerator temporarily.

Remove the bottom panel and back panel from inside the freezer compartment. You will probably notice that the bottom of the inside of the freezer is covered in ice. Use hot water (not boiling) from the tap and pour it on to the ice that is formed on the inside of the freezer compartment to melt the ice.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN TO MELT THE ICE AS IT WILL MELT THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT. ALSO DO NOT CHOP AT THE ICE WITH A SHARP INSTRUMENT OF ANY KIND AS THIS WILL PUNCTURE AND DESTROY THE INSIDE OF THE FREEZER.

If you have a wet vac, you can remove the melted water using the wet vac. Or you can use a towel to mop up the excess water. You will still have to pour hot water onto the ice until all of the ice in the freezer is melted. Patience is key as it takes time to defrost all of this ice.

You will see a drain hole in the back of the freezer compartment that is still clogged with ice. You will need to continue to apply hot water until the ice has completely melted.

Note: When the ice in the drain breaks free, you will see all of the water disappear as it empties out.
In Whirlpool refrigerators, the water runs to a tray underneath the refrigerator. You will hear the water empty out into that tray. Then you will know that you have completely cleared the ice from the drain pipe in the freezer. To double-check this, take a small cup of warm water and dump it into the drain hole and you will see it visibly disappear and run into that tray underneath the refrigerator.

Replace the freezer panels back into the freezer compartment and plug it back in and return your freezer items back in to the freezer and you should be all set.

Freezer compartment accumulating snowy ice

sounds like an air leak. the ref. is sucking air in and condensing and freezing on that spot. check the gaskets really good.

Ice is forming in the bottom of the freezer compartment, and water forms under the fridge freezer. Also the comperssor does not always respond to the freezer setting when the stat is turned...

compressor may not start for quite a time even if you change the stat setting. this is deliberate.

ice on floor of the freezer is caused by the drain being blocked - probably with ice. remove the back panel inside the freezer and melt the ice off with a hairdryer. you will have to clear the drain itself with hot water - needs a bit of patience.

this can just happen with time but you may have a fault on the defrost system which is causing it
