Sounds like the fixing film has gone bad..... and or the dc power supply could have gone bad in it. i would call a service tech to come out and take a look at it if you haven't already done so.
#0018 indicates there was a problem with dialing, but it should show for sending faxes only. Since you can neither send nor receive faxes, and are getting a message saying "no signal", make sure that the phone line is still securely connected to both the L (line) jack on the machine and the phone jack in the wall. If it is, plug another phone into the accessory jack on the machine, and check to see if you are getting a dial tone. It seems like the machine is not able to communicate through the phone line.
E000 is a fixing unit problem. It could just be needing to be reset or replacement of the fixing unit or if that is not the fix it may coast more then it is worth.
