Green TV with lines through it

This morning my TV was working fine, but when I came home this afternoon to turn it on the screen showed green with lines running through it. The sound was running fine and you could vaguely see the TV show in the background. The other TV upstairs worked fine, so I am guessing the problem is with the TV.

I have this problem too. In the past it has simply gone away after a day or two, but I don't know how to specifically resolve this issue.

MY Samsung hlr 5667 comes on with a badly distorted picture barely visible through a green screen, fuzzy lined screen.

    Hi there,

I have a Samsung dlp, a few years old. Model # is HLR5067W.
Every time that we turn on the tv, it has the green lines and fuzz through the screen, but you can still see the picture through it. If we keep it on for a minute, and then unplug/replug it in, it works fine. Today, though, it was fine for a minute, and then turned off and flashed the 3 lights in the front.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not this is a lamp, ballast, or other, more severe problem? I don't want to waste the money on a lamp if the tv is shot.

WHY IS IT THAT NOBODY HAS A SOLUTION FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM??? IS THERE SOMEBODY OUT THERE THAT KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS?

  • mikey_a7 Apr 05, 2009

My Samsung DLP has this problem as well as the two other samsung DLP's my relatives have. All three are different model units. This looks to be a major design flaw of the samsung DLPs and I am amazed that Samsung is willing to lose customers over this by not recalling what ever part is causing this problem.

Green horizontal lines on screen no picture

The green CRT's (color picutre tube or color wheel, or ballast) will need to be tested for replacement.
It is quite common with these tv's

You will need an ohmmeter and or voltmeter and test each component for currency and accuracy

Mitsubishi wd52525 problems

i have thought about this since you first posted it. if the demo is good then the light engine is ok. it sounds like a problem in the chassis. probably on the DM and the terminal board. to repair the chassis would cost about $250.00 plus shipping.

Problems with green convergence

Very common problem John with projection sets. They have High powered audio amps inside the sets to control the red, green, and blue convergence for the color alighnment on the screen. These amps blow out and should be replace all at one time. There are also resistors that can go out at the same time and your gonna have to have these replace also if they have any discoloration to them. This is not a job for the novice to attempt, as there are HI Voltage safety issues involved, and should be done by a trained tech. This repair should run you anywhere from $250.00 all the way up to $400.00 bucks, depending on where you live and who you get to repair the set. It's always better, in my opiniuon to call a factory authourized repair place as they should have all the service data and most parts for your set. Good Luck
