Digital cameras in general use a lot of battery power; this one in particular is noted for short battery life. When it was new, this camera was supplied with a Lithium Ion battery for longer life; if you're using regular AAs, the battery life will be disappointing. Oh, and cheap batteries from the dollar store might not even work at all!

The most cost effective solution is probably high capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries; get a set of four so that you can have spares on hand. If even that isn't acceptable, look into getting the Lithium Ion one.

If you bought this camera used, the short battery life could easily be the reason the original owner got frustrated with it.

Battery life-I put new batteries in and it lasted less than 30 minutes-maybe 20 pics before the camera stated replace batteries. Is there a reset-

If you are using alkaline batteries, you should switch to rechargeable NiMH batteries. I highly recommend the Sanyo Eneloop products. You should be able to get 300 to 400 shots before you need to recharge. Get two sets of four AA Eneloop batteries. Don't mix them. They hold their charge for a year and can be recharged a thousand times.

My batteries are lasting shorter and shorter times. I had to change batteries after only 40 pics. Is it a camera problem or cheap batteries? I normally use the CRV3 batteries, but have been using AA's. Is...

Digital cameras are famously demanding on batteries. You must use good alkaline batteries or better, a set of high capacity NiMH rechargeables. Zinc or "long life" batteries just aren't up to the task, and they can leak and cause corrosion.

NiMH batteries with a capacity of 2700mAH are available, and these will last longer, per charge, than name brand alkalines, as well as being rechargeable. You can buy these with a charger fairly cheaply now (though they obviously cost more than disposables). You will probably want two sets, one to be on charge while you use the other.

Camera is always low on power even when new batteries are installed

Are you using the high power rechargeables, or normal AA's? Some of these cameras will only shoot 20 pics on AA"s, where the good rechargeables will get 1-200+ shots, check with your manual on recommended batteries.

Everytime we want to use our camera the batteries are dead. What is wrong?

With digital camera's you can't use normal batteries. A digital camera will drain a regular battery in nothing flat. I am a professional photographer and my camera uses AA batteries. I never use anything but Sanya Eneloop batteries. They are rechargeable and I can shoot a whole wedding and most of a reception on one set of these batteries. They aren't expensive and you can get them at most camera shops and even off of ebay. As for the batteries you use I would have to know more as to what batteries you are using to give you a clear cut answer. But I do know if you are using just regualr batteries they won't last in a digital camera. Hope this info helps.

Kodak Z812 shuts off automatically

It is a high-powered camera, also knows as a GREAT camera. Use CRV-3 lithium duracell batteries. I have the same camera and the same "problem", but when I use that battery it lasts forever.

Won't come on

I figured out the problem. The D-380 seems to have problems using rechargable batteries, so i'm afraid you'll have to use some regular AA's for a bit. It worked for me, so I hope this helps. It's probably just something wrong with your rechargeable's.

When the batteries die I have to reset the date and time again in order to take pics! Was there something that I missed or did wrong?!

The manual states that when you change the batteries, you will have to reset the date and time; this is normal operation for this camera (though it is a pain!!!)

Battery Problem

It sounds like you either have a bad battery, battery charger or maybe the battery has dirty connections. Try another set of batteries and if it still happens let me know. BMW
