In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
If you need more help post back! Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!

I want to reset the print server D-Link DP-301P+. I forgot IP address which I was changed according to network settings.

There are two steps that we can suggest,

A)

1) Install the psadmin software if you have not already. If you have lost the psadmin software then search for it on the web.
2) Start the psadmin software and click "factory reset".
3) If the software demands a password, try "SYSxxxx", where xxxx stands for the last four digits of the MAC address located on the underside of your server. (Example: if your MAC address were "63 XE 29 44 F2 96", then your password would be SYSF296.)
4) Click yes to confirm the reset.

B)

On the back of the print server you will find a pin hole, insert a paper clip for 30 secs with the print server powered on. All lights will flash. Try to setup the server again.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Shrey

Responding to Craigslist ad, e-mail, wizard appears, asking for server, eg http, POP3..further asking for password supplied by server. Not techie, am at loss, plz help...

Usually the networks request password to access. However, if the user never acquired any,, some networks demand passes simply to persuade the user to the site to acquire one. The processes of acquirign passwords would simple be registering with the program providers as member to participate in which instance a user pass or logon credentials are made aavilable to move beyond.

I have instatalled a DP 301 print server for my HP 2300n printer. I am not able to get nbtstat reply from this device. IP for print server is manually configure. ANy help?

Yes. In most cases you can reset your D-link DP-300 series or DP-301 series print server yourself even if you don't know the password or IP. This comes in handy in situations such as when the server has made up its own password after being connected to a new router.

Cross your fingers and try the following steps...

5) Follow the non-intuitive instructions provided with your server to set it up again. (Note that a Quick Install Guide will likely be more useful than a manual for this step. If you have lost your Quick Install Guide then try downloading it from D-link's website, http:/www.dlink.com/default.aspx Locate your model via "product quick find" or "find your product" then click on "support resources" and look for a quick installation guide.)

Good luck!

D-Link DP-300U Print Server Problem:

So... you've messed up the IP address on your DP-300U and now you can't even access the web browser configuration page? Yes, it's happened to the best of us. Although I'm sure there are more elegant solutions, one fix is to reset the server to its factory settings and then reconfigure it from scratch. Given that there is no reset button on the DP-300U, resetting can be frustrating, especially if it's asking you for a password that you never created in the first place! Here's what you can do...

1) Install the psadmin software which came with the print server. If you lost the software, you should be able to find it on the web somewhere.
2) Start the software. It should automatically locate your print server.
3) Click on "factory reset". If it demands a password, and you don't know it, try "SYSxxxx" (where xxxx is the last four digits of the MAC address written on the underside of your server)
4) Dust off your Quick Install Guide and go through the unintuitive configuration process. If you no longer have your Quick Install Guide you can find it on D-Link's website.

Good luck!

Dp301p+ psadmin password was forgoten

Problems with your D-Link DP-300U LOST IP If you’re like me, you have a ton of computer **** laying around your house. Today I found an old D-Link DP-300U print server laying around and thought that I could put it to good use. The bad thing about these things is the fact that they do not have a hardware reset button on them, so if you forget the IP or the Password, you’re pretty much hosed… or so I thought. After doing some google searches for how to find a lost IP, I came back empty. The PS Admin program that D-Link publishes for use with this thing couldn’t find it on my network either. After some thinking, I came up with an idea.
If you know anything about networking and how networks work, you should have thought about this too. Get a Wireshark capture running. Unplug the power from the print server and then replug it. It’s going to send out an ARP on the network looking for it’s gateway which should be picked up by Wireshark. It should look like this:
capture.jpg In my case, it came back as 192.168.1.253. After changing the IP on my laptop to fit that subnet, I was able to log into it via it’s web interface (there was no password on it thank God!) and put it back to factory settings. Voila! What once was a brick is now a working print server!

I Copied it!
