No, it only tells you that it is processing something and that the modem is active. Even if you are not doing anything on the computer it may or may not blink. But generally, it is perfectly fine.

What you have to watch out though are the
>POWER, if this light turns RED or OFF, it means there is something wrong with the modem.
>ETHERNET, if you are using an ethernet cable to connect your computer to the modem, it may or may not blink but it's ok, however, if it is OFF, it means there is no connection between the modem and the computer, check the ethernet cable and make sure it is securely plugged into the modem and into the computer as well. If you are using a wireless connection though, it's ok to see the ethernet light to be off.
>DSL, this light should always be STEADY which means the server where you get your internet service is fine. If it's blinking or RED, it's otherwise. If DSL is OFF, first check the connection between the modem and the telephone jack.

I hope it helped you. Rate for this information will greatly be appreciated. Thank you!

How do i acces my modem to get it out of bridge mode to use it without a router

Hi paintballa12!

Here's the link for yor modem's userguide..

http://www2.windstream.net/downloads/links/SpeedStream211.pdf

Normally, all dsl modems can be "unbridged" byr resetting it to factory state.. But that would mean you have to save you DSL username & password again..

Check page 38 for setting modem to non-bridge mode..

Hope this helps..

Cannot serve files with omenserve

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Windstream disabled your peer-to-peer file sharing capabilities on purpose. Then they had a team of lawyers write the terms that give them many rights and give you few-to-none. Read carefully through the "Terms of Service" and "Acceptable Use" policies, available via links on the bottom of the Windstream web site. The quoted excerpts at the bottom of this message are only a few examples of these "agreements" that they've written and that you signed off on when you got their service. Windstream has made a numbers of things legal for themselves in their Service Agreement, and stated VERY simply they are as follows: =- You're not allowed to share files considered illegal, such as copyrighted media. =- You're not allowed to use a P2P client, or any other software that provides a server or sharing service. =- You're not allowed to use software that keeps itself connected after being interrupted. =- You're not allowed to use an IRC bot, or do anything other than simple "chat" on IRC. =- You're not allowed to try and change their installation software or alter how it's set up. =- If you terminate your contract early they have the right to bill you for at least $200. =- They're allowed to investigate your actions in any way if they decide they want to. =- They're allowed to terminate your service at any time. =- They're allowed to bill you a minimum of $500 if you violate any of these or dozens of other restrictions. Sorry to tell you this, but it looks as though you don't have any choice in the matter. I'm not a lawyer, but that's certainly the way it looks. Technically speaking, the only solution to this problem would be to use an entirely separate computer for your satellite connection. This is just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't go anywhere near that installer software. To alter it or otherwise. Sorry. Wish I could say something else to you about this... :\ ************************************** "The Acceptable Use Policy generally provides that you may not use our Internet access Service to (1) engage in illegal activity, (2) violate the network policies of any network accessed through our Service or (3) engage in any activity that interferes with other Internet users?..." "You agree that the phone on which your Windstream Service is activated may not be used to access any third-party services equivalent to Services provided..." "Your Windstream Internet account may only be used according to your service plan. Unlimited Access accounts may not be used as "dedicated" connections..." "The use of automated intervention-such as software or hardware devices-for the purpose of maintaining a connection to the service is strictly prohibited..." "You may not use IRC bots, or violate any policy of an IRC server, when using our service, including use of IRC-based telephony and videoconferencing..." "Using any manual or electronic means to circumvent any restrictions placed on your phone or to modify without authorization any programming supplied on your phone is a violation of your Agreement..." "We reserve the right to investigate any Internet usage that we believe may violate this Acceptable Use Policy, our Terms and Conditions Agreement for service, or any applicable laws or regulations..." "If such conduct results in damages to Windstream, you may be required to reimburse Windstream for such damages including legal fees, subject to a minimum fee of $500.00..."

I plug all the cord in the back of the modem.... the power light blinks, an then the dsl, an thn the ethenet light then cuts off all the lights, for those three, an start all over again an again.. never...

If the modem was supplied by your Internet Service Provider, telephone them for Technical Support, either to trouble-shoot, or to replace the modem.

Obviously, they want to keep you as a customer, paying them money every month. So, they should replace the modem "no questions asked".

Did you get a router, the dsl modem it self wont do much good, you need a router so it can assign your xbox an IP address. You need to have a router hooked up to the DSL modem, and the xbox hooked up to the router.

SpeedStream Modem DSL Light

You might want to check with your provider to make sure that they haven't changed anything.  Power cycle the modem, and even perform a hard reset if possible, usually by means of a small button on the back of the box.

Of course you could have just got a bad modem, and in that case, it's just as easy to take it back where you bought it.
