How to reset to factory defaults

If you've lost the address/password information for your WAP54g, or if you've bought a used one and need to reset the configuration, follow these steps:

Step 1: Connect the power to the WAP54G. The "Act" light on the front of the unit should be on.

Step 2: Connect a network cable (cat5, normal or crossover cable is fine) from the WAP54g to your computer.

Step 3: set your computer's network interface as follows:

  • Specify an IP address manually,
  • ip: 192.168.1.2
  • netmask: 192.168.1.255 (for Linux)
  • netmask: 255.255.255.0 (for Windows)
  • default gateway: 192.168.1.1

It doesn't matter what your DNS settings are for this exercise.
** BE SURE TO NOTE WHAT YOUR OLD SETTINGS WERE, so you can reset your computer when you're done!

Step 4: On the back of the WAP54g, locate the "reset" button. Use a paperclip or the tip of a pen to press and HOLD this button for 60 seconds. Yes, really, a full 60 seconds. If you release the button before that time, just hit the reset button again, and start the 60-second timer over again.

Step 5: After 60 seconds, release the "reset" button and unplug the power connection from the WAP54G, and wait 10 seconds, then plug the power back into the WAP54G. The "Act" light on the front should light up again.

Finally, on your computer -- point a web browser at http://192.168.1.245/
It should prompt for a username and password.
  • For Internet Explorer, leave the username blank and put admin in the password
  • For Firefox and Safari, put admin in the username and admin in the password

And there you have it!

Hi, I have a Linksys WRT56G2 V1 Wireless Router that worked just fine until 2-3 days ago... Now when I plug it in the power light is off, the internet light is on, the wireless light is off, and the 4...

1. the power supply to the unit has a malfunction.
the power light should be green to say that the unit is getting proper voltage if you see no light then the power supply is probably not working
If router is under warranty has manufacturer send a new one to you.
2. Try unplugging the router first for 30 second to a minute to see if your unit will restore if not a new unit is needed.

My Scan Snap won't scan. The Scan light just blinks and nothing happens.

My Scansnap was being used through a USB powered hub.

This worked....Shutdown EVERYTHING and unplug computer from your powerstrip for 10 seconds (or just turn off your powerstrip for 10 seconds) It resets the BUS power. This solved why almost all of my USB devices stopped working or were behaving badly.

Cannot find wireless network on Secondary computer

Try this, unplug the power from your modem, wait 25 seconds and plug it back in. Unplug the power cord from your router and wait 10 seconds.. plug it back in. Wait for the Wan/Ready/Internet light on your modem to stop flashing or go to its default position. Reboot your 2ndary computer. Try the internet again. If this does not help please post again and we will dig deeper! Good Luck!

Belkin N router reads everything but the computer.

If your router was working before, and suddenly stopped working, then you probably need to reset it.
Unplug the router from power, also unplug all network cables from it.
Wait about 30 seconds.
Plug power back in, followed by network cables.
Wait some more seconds while the router restarts.
Only the Power light and the Status light should be solid.
All others in use must be blinking, which means they are in use.

Try connecting to the internet with cable first, then try wireless.

It should work.

Wireless Network Connection is no longer connected

I've had this problem before. Simply power cycle the device (unplug it, wait 20 seconds, and plug it back in). If this starts happening often it may be nearing the end of this products lifecycle (you may need to replace it). I had mine for 3 years before I had to replace it.

I will be on line when all of a sudden it says internet explorer has stop working. It happens over and over. please help thank you [email protected]

well suzie, there are a lot of areas you want to check on about that issue. try to check the following:

check your modem, check if the ONLINE light is lit. if not as a remedy unplug the power from the unit, wait for about 30 seconds to a minute then plug it back in.

check if other computers can go online from the modem, if they can you may want to restart your computer to refresh the connection

if you have a wireless connection at home:

make sure that you are within range of the wireless router

make sure that your wireless computer is connected to the right network.

as a remedy, just restart the wireless router and your computer.

Actiontec wireless router

This is a Wireless Gateway not a router. Although the Actiontec website says that it uses NAT firewall like a router would.

If you do not get any green lights this usually means the wireless gateway is broken. Try plugging it into power but not the modem. Wait a few seconds. Are there any green lights?

If so, then the gateway is not configured correctly to work with your modem. You may have a smart modem. Call your ISP, for help.

If not, then it is probably a bad gateway. You can try to connect to the configuration web page that comes with the gateway. OR Power on the unit while holding down the Reset button for a minute. This will reset it to factory defaults.
