I am using talktalk modem/router echolife hg520 on a BT landline.Therouter is sited in upstairs bedroom and has a wired XBOX live connected to it.My pc is sited downstairs and im using the G+ adapter to make the 5metre connection.
(1)leaving the xbox switched off. I first switch on the router (upstairs) then,
(2)moving down stairs i now switch on my pc and adapter:-
From the time i switch on the pc, it takes at least 3minutes but, often longer before the system tells me its running smoothly. Is it normal to take so long or am i right in thinking this connections abit slow?
That does seem a long time to connect... is it the wireless connection or getting an IP that is the delay... if it's IP then the network icon in the taskbar will have a moving part to the icon rather than being static... kinda yello ball running along a wire (if ya know what I mean)
try THIS util to see what your signal strength is and if there any other services sharing the same channel. Maybe you need to change the channel of the router?

thanks for your help.I;ll try what you suggest. I also use a MT882 wired modem when nobodies using the xbox at the same time and that works fine.
