whirlpool electric dryer will not start when you push start button. Model No. LER5634AW0. There is power to the dryer. The door switch appears to be working,(didn't check it with a meter). I push the start button, run it through all the cycles and still nothing. Are there any resets or circuit breakers that I could check? Where do I go from here?
This may sound facetious, so don't get offended. Did you set your clock to the correct time? Did you clear any and all preset timers? If none of that helps you can usually find roaches in the strangest places. If you have no roaches, then moisture and heat are the likely culprits which means that your blister pads are simply worn out. Unfortunately these are coated with graphite and don't last forever, so a timer replacement would be your only option unless your touchpad is separate from your timer.
ma be the door switch push on the door switch with a screw driver to see if it comes on if it does you have found the problem. If that does not work let me know and I will help you solve the problem.
I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!
most likely its the timer it has electrical contacts built on the timer that allow it to start its cycle if the timer has bad contacts it wont allow dryer to come on
