The start button, light and vent buttons do not work- everything else on the panel does. I have tried unlocking the child lock but after 10 seconds of holding the button down it still wont work.

Try turning the circuit breaker (electric panel in basement or storage room) off, wait at least 10 seconds, then turn it back on. This may reset it.

Setting the Child Protection Lock

You can lock your microwave oven so it can't be used by unsupervised

children.

1 Press the My Choice Button and the 5 button at the same time for

3 seconds.

The display shows : CHILD LOCK ON.

2 The display returns to the time of day.

At this point, the microwave oven cannot be used until it is unlocked. To
unlock it, repeat steps 1-2 above.

The answer to how to lock and unlock is on page 15 of the manual. It's instructions are: 1. Press the '0' button, the display will show: "PRESS 1- DEMO 2-CHILD LOCK"
2. Press the "2" button, the display will show: "PRESS START"
3. Press the start button and the display will show "LOCK" then returns to the time of day.
At this point the microwave can't be used. To unlock, just repeat steps 1-3.

Most likely you set a child lock (front panel lock) by holding a button too long (3 seconds). Without a model number, I can't be absolutely sure of the keypad lock for your Jenn-Aire microwave. Usually, the key will have a small padlock icon on it. Press and hold this key. On my microwave you press and hold Start to toggle the lock off.

On a Jenn-Aire JMW2430 and similar models, the Button Lock is activated by a several step process (More and Button Lock). However, pressing and holding the Start button will deactivate it.

It sounds like you've activated the child-lock - this would disable all of the digital buttons.

To switch the child-lock OFF, simply press and hold the START button for about 4-5 seconds until "LOCKED" disappears from the display.

To switch the child-lock ON, press "STOP/CLEAR" button once, then press and hold the START button for about 4-5 seconds until "LOCKED" illiminates on the display.

If the buttons aren't working and "LOCKED" is not displayed, then you may have a defective touch control pad.

"Locked" meaning the buttons don't work/non-responsive (Child Safety Locked)? To Unlock/Disengage the Child Safety. Push and hold the "Clear/Off" button for 3 to 4 seconds. The Child Safety is disengaged - problem solved.

"Locke" meaning the door? or locked meaning the buttons don't work? If it is the buttons then you have the child lock on. Push and hold the "Start" button for 4 to 5 seconds, and it will unlock.

i'm assuming that you don't have the manual. The unlocking procedure should be in the manual. Models with a child lock-out safety feature should have a "Help" button that will lead to an un-lock procedure or a special button that you need to hold for 5 seconds. Try holding down the "0" button or "Start" button for 5 seconds.
