Unable to adjust tension,

Brother CS 6000i 60-Stitch Computerized Sewing Machine top stitch lays on top, no matter how I adjust the wheel and stitiches tightly so that I must pull the seam along to the thread ends to straighten. Bought new in November 2007, tried using it 3-4 times, same problem

Sounds like the bobbin thread is not inside the tension on the bobbin case. This normally happens when the bobbin is upside down. Insert the bobbin and pull on the thread. The bobbin should turn counter clockwise.

My straight stitch is not perfectly straight, what can I do?

1. Put a piece of paper on the sewing machine w/o thread. Sew for three inches.
2. Notice the needle holes are straight with the feed dogs. The pressure foot is not in line with the holes.
3. With the pressure foot down loosen the pressure foot pressure to it's lowest amount.
4. There is a screw on the arm that needs to be loosened. Afterwards, adjust the arm until the foot is parallel with the feed dogs. Tighten screw.
5. Try sewing again on the piece of paper to check for accuracy on being straight.
6. One other check is to insure the feed dogs have even wear.

A lot of squeezing, tight sounding noise, coming from inside. Can it be oiled??

yes, recommend a drop if 3-in-1 oil on all moving joints, connections, gears, and wipe off any excess.

How to trouble shoot without a manual?

you can download a free manual at //www.generalmanual.com/Home-Sewing-Embroidery-Machines/Brother-CS-6000i-Sewing-Machine.htm

F4 might mean that the bobbin on the top is in the position for rewind, slide bobbin to the right for the error code to go away. Hope this helps, Sandy

How to troubleshoot without a manual

Yes, Brother has a free download, Go to this site:http://www.generalmanual.com/Home-Sewing-Embroidery-Machines/Brother-CS-6000i-Sewing-Machine.htm and you should have what you need. You also might have the bobbin pushed to the right, in the wind position. Is so, push bobbin to the left and all should be fine.

Stitch issues

Find the tensions on your machine. Usually a screw below on the bobbin regulates the top stitches tension. Usually a numbered wheel on top--where the thread is around it--regulates the bottom stitches. YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE TOP WHEEL, test on scrap material, and if looser, you are in the right direction. If it is still a mess. turn the knob to a lower number.

I don't know how to adjust the tension on my brother cs-6000i.

It is the wheel on top of the machine near the thread guide.

I believe you will find more information on page 29 of the manual.
