I have purchased, and (unfortunately the packaging is trashes... for use) a Verbatim 8 Gig Flash Drive which now appears to be incompatible (useless?) for my older computer systems Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and my new Mac OS 10 +. I have XP on my laptop and it is not working there either. the Drive It asks me for a Password? Do I use administrator password or something else? I am on a network. Help! These are costly drives and they don't seem to work (and I can't return them without out their packaging! My LEXAR, SCANDISK, MEMOREX thumb drives all work, no problems with setup etc.? Any advice would be appreciated.

Newer high-end flash drives will often trigger a network security response because they want to load a driver onto your machine...and many network systems will not allow that without a network administrator password. So...I suspect it's not the drive asking for the password, but Windows or OS-X.

You'll probably need to talk to your network administrator on this one.

Hope that's helpful.

I have purchased an 8GB TDK and unfortunately when I delete the files and try to add new ones, I receive a message that there is not enough free space. I am using a Mac. What should I do!!!! Ian.

Try to format the USB flash drive Then you will clear it of al the files it has, if you don't want to lose the files, copy them into your computer, and copy them back after the formatting is complete, after formatting, I'd suggest you'd see the properties of the flash drive, to see the memory and the occupation of the memory, from time to time.

What machine do you have? What version of Windows? The USB flash drive is already formatted. Contact Verbatim for a solution, these USB flash drives have lifetime warranties.

8mb vs 8gb of space on an 8gb flash drive

sounds like you upgraded it to a dynamic volume and are using the leftover space, flash drives should be left as basic disks and formatted fat 32.

Hi.. i hav a problem with Verbatim 8 GB usb drive,

they have lifetime warranty but not for the data. this is a damaged boot sector programming on the flash drive. It can only be recovered via a Level 3 data recovery company like ADR or Kroll. I used ADR.

My 8 gig verbatim usb drive only letting me use 767mb

You sure that it's not 7670MB? If not check that there isn't another partition on the drive.

This can be a caused by a virus or something so this thing that you can try is to format the flash drive , Connect the flash drive to your computer then format it that should clean the falsh drive and hopefully it will be back to its original size..
