I have one pro view 17" view sonic monitor CRT with win xp as my OS. when i am working in my computer suddenly the contrast and brightness symbol comes on the screen and begin to increase to maximum and keeps on coming on to the screen.if i reduce the contrast or brightness it increases automatically and keeps on coming on to the screen. Please help.......

Hi; I had the same problem. I know that sometimes devices require you to perform some type of '10-30 second' "hold" of one or some of its buttons in order to 'reset' the device, so to speak. So, having said that, try this:

1) Turn your monitor off (no green light) but leave it plugged in.
2) Leave it off for about 10 seconds.
3) Hold the [2] button on your monitor (the one to the immediate LEFT of your monitor's POWER button).
4) While holding the [2] button, now press and HOLD your POWER button.
5) Wait for your image to appear and STAY onscreen for about 5 seconds, then release both buttons.
6) Your monitor should retain its onscreen image.

try turning it on and off, wait a few hours then turn it back on. it that dont work, turn it off then leave it till the next day then try. it should work.

It is a disguisting problem which I am myself facing. This causes due to moisture on the monitor curcuit components and the curcuit pads get pressed. This can only be solved when by replacing rusted parts. Contact a monitor enjineer.
