Hi , I bought a Nintendo DS Lite in Shanghai 1 year ago and later in Italy I also bought the game Brain Training . I had no problem to play it until about 2 months ago when switching on the game upon any selection the game ask to connect the console to other console (even if I'm at home and no other DS are around there) or generally ask to download extra software packs ; so that no way to play the game anymore. On the other hand no problem with all the other games I bought (i.e Harry Potter or FIFA 09 or BOXE or ....) even via WI-FI Connection. I tried to connect the DS Lite with my WII and downloaded an extra pack but no way to install it so it didn't solve the problem . Tried to get in touch with phone assistance from Nintendo but just waited several minutes and spent a lot of money without feedback ... Could you pls. kindly suggest a solution ? The pins on the cartridge slot get oxidation and dirt on them. The game cards also get dirty. Pick one game card and carefully cut little strips of extra-fine sand paper. Use a stylus to rub gently each contact on the game card. They should become shiny gold again. Blow it off with compressed air and insert it into the DS. Do not attempt to clean inside the DS.

Your name and such are in the console. Remove the battery and this info is gone.

Your saved games, high scores and such are in the game catridge, and just about every game has the option of removing this data from the menu... somewhere... (they are all different).

Dual screen
You shouldn't need anything other than a working DS and the game. If it isn't working, then try it on someone else's DS to make sure it's not the game, if it's not, are you having problems with your DS and the top screen?

The DS lite is and upgrade from the DS. The lite being slightly smaller has a brighter screen and supposed longer battery life. The Lite and DS share the DS library of games. So yes you can play the brain training on the Lite.
