LG RU-42PX10 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 18, 2011

I have an LG plasma model# DU-42PY10X that seems to have lost the green color because shows magenta on highlights like faces and other areas that should be white. Also sometimes the left half of the screen displays many thin color lines and then go away. Also sometimes shows a red vertical line on the right side about 3 inches from the edge. The built in menu displays very awesome, except for the green color gone.

I do not think that the creen is broken because it displays the menu very nice and crispy.

Thanks for your response. I like the answer. I would love to have that link to the repair manual.

The solution makes lots of sense. I have not repaired the TV yet, but it helped me to ID the parts of the TV.

Hi,

This is a common problem on these sets. As the menu is fine, this is highly suggestive of an internal failure.you have a driver board failing if you would open the set and on the left side is the Y-sustain board there are two boards connected to the Y SUS board. The one on the top drives the top half of the picture and the one on the bottom drives the lower half of the picture open the ribbon cables make sure to clean it or Re solder if you see needed turn set on and test, sometimes cleaning this will fix problem sometimes re soldering will fix problem and last resort is, the board itself is bad.Unfortunately, you need to diagnose and inspect all the components before replacing any part.If you wish to repair it yourself, i could give you a link to buy the service manual and would upload a troubleshooting chart ( generic ) that would explain how you need to diagnose the fault when you open the TV.However, there is no quick fix. It has to be opened and tested and then diagnosed.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Issue with LG Plasma tv model # DU-42PX12X

Another "same probelm"

My set has encountered this magical 50/50 split screen and it seems to be quite a problem since I am not the only one researching this issue. LG was of no use because of course it is just out of warranty. Any solutions on fixing this or am I out of money in buying a new plasma?

Colorful "speckles" on screen

Could be the screen burn from watching T.V. on a show and the thing burnt in (in this case the colors, yes it can burn colors.) and there's nothing you can do. The insides of the T.V.'s have plasma gases which can flow out of control.

Lost half of picture

This can be on the matrix drive board, or the display assembly itself. It is possible to also have a defect in the address decoding area that will cause this.

The procedure is to swap out the suspect boards to determine where the fault is, leave the working boards in the set, and then follow up any necessary calibrations that are necessary.

LG DU-42PX12X Verticle lines of various colors, and widths throughout the screen.

Check within you area for a reliable LG repair center. To fix the problem of the blue, red or green vertical line you just need to replace the control board PN 6871QCH038C. The part cost about $150.00 and a honest repair center should not beat you up to bad on the labor. Good luck and Good viewing.

DU-42PY10X Has sound but no picture.

When a plasma has no picture I have found that 9 times out of 10 the ysus bd or the zsus bd has failed and sometimes both have failed at the same time. When you pull the back of the unit, you will find the the large pcb on the left as you look at the back is the ysus bd. and the bd. on the right side of unit is the zsus (it is about 1/2 size of the ysus bd. Check the fuses on both bds. and if one is open see if replacing will help. If it blows again the bd. that the fuse is on is most likely defective. The VS and VA voltages are listed on a tag on the inside of the plasma panel and those voltages should be checked. If either of those voltages is very low or missing, first disconnect the plug from the power supply to the ysus bd and check the voltages again. If the voltage comes up then the ysus is defective. If the v does not come up replace that plug and pull the plug from the power supply to the zsus bd and check again. If the v then comes up the zsus is most likely the cause. Remember to disconnect the AC to the unit b4 each step. Of course there are other possibilities and I alway reccomend that if your are not proficient with handling meters and AC and DC voltages then please contact a qualified service tech.

Highlights on flesh tones are purple

Either the diffusion has not been aligned properly or the unit has a bad Plasma panel. If the unit is an LG plasma it carries a 2 year warranty and you should contact LG for the nearest auth. service center.
