There are three Cathod Ray guns responsible for the millions of colors. All colors are produced by mixing the three basic colors namely Red Green and Blue (RGB) at suitable proportion. If any one of the three guns fail firing then we get improper colors. This can be rectified by

    (1) hitting the monitor at the back by keeping it on a pillow the screen facing down - it will reolve the problem if the failure is due to the loosening of the Head due to repeated thermal expansion and contaction.

    (2) check the signal cable for loose connection, twisting etc on both ends - at the back of the CPU and Monitor (it is fixed)

Hi, I have a samsung samtron 55V 15 inch monitor. The problem is it is not displaying the actual colors. The red color appears as a greenish/bluish shade. Ex: The Windows Start button is showing as light...

Hi,
You have to check for dry soldering in the base board of you mointor. The base board is on which is attached to the picture tube neck. In most cases there will be dry soldering in the pins of cathode diver ic in that base board. It will be difficult find out which pin have the dry soldering. Do on thing resolder all the pins of that ic. This ic cotrols the three cathodes of picture tube (red, blue, and geen) is any one did not get the correct drive that color will fail to display. In your case the red cathode is not getting the drive voltage. Thats why it shows only gree and blue. This is a reular complait for crt monitors.

Picture has greenish tint that I can't adjust out

There is a crt drive problem and you can isolate it by unpluggin g the set, removing the green crt socket, in the middle of the three tubes is the green tube by the way, remove one of the other tubes and switching the crt sockets and turn it on. If the set is still greenish, then the green crt is bad and needs replacement, if another color is primart, then it is going to be the green crt drive circuit and is going to need to be serviced. Good Luck
