How do you repair a FP Music Box Record Player. I don't know how old this is, but my kids were little in the 1980's and 90's. It still works but not as fast as it should and the teeth that make the music in the arm of the toy get moved and won't work right. My husband repairs and calibrates electronic equipment at a nuclear power plant and he is looking for instructions on how to repair this for our granddaughter. Connie

My grandsons broke their mother's (and aunts') FP music box.
There was almost no sound
The teeth are simply a wind-up music box set, connected to a rod that transmits the vibrations to the diaphragm under the pseudo-tone-arm. I was able to fix by placing a cotter-pin on the rod in the arm at or near the junction and then trim with wire cutters to the correct size.
I checked the diaphragm first by tapping it through the arm/table connection.

SOURCE: how to open FP music box record player, #995 or #995N

Fisher Price Music box: to open, remove the four screws from the bottom, open the two parts as wide as possible without using too much force. Using a small flat blade screw driver, insert between the red cover and white top where the wind up knob is located. Pry the red bottom out far enough to allow the ring surrounding the knob to slide under the red bottom. The box is now open.

After repair, and re-assembling, make sure the wider part of the wind up stop wheel faces the front of the player, otherwise the wind up knob catches and slows the mechanism.

Remove 4 screws. Pry open about 1/4 inch, just enough to insert red straw attached to your WD40 nozzle. Lubricate metal parts inside near the stem of the yellow wind-up knob. Lubricate metal wheels under the armature. That did the job for us! Player seems to operate at normal speed.

New CD-R discs read Data Only. Can the Sony RCD-W100 be adjusted to record with today's crop of CD-R discs?

Were these discs labeled CD-R Digital Audio? This compact disc recorder can't record to CD-R data disc for computers. See the manual on page 7. The manual is available here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4246/42460761M.pdf .

Apparently, there is a header section on CD-R Digital Audio discs that tells the RCD-W100 that the disc is for audio recording. The work-around would be to process your audio files on a computer and then write the music to the CDs that you currently have.

I wish that I had better news for you.

I need the software for the made for me music player. A friend of mine works with children who are don't have homes or parents, apparently - this kid is a biter...but he is pacified by his one toy....

I don't know if you still need this but I have found that if you just hook the mp3 player to to the computer with it's mini usb cable windows finds it and installs it without a problem. You can then just add the songs you want into the existing folders just like you would with any external flash drive. You don't need the software to manage the music.
