If the brake wire is active then you probably need to check the connections. The brown wires may be switched. There is a brown wire for the horn and a brown wire for the brake. If that's not the case then it's possible that the wrong wire at the switch is connected. Also, when the brake switch goes bad in some vehicles the wire remains active (hot).

To program the remote; turn ignition on, press and release valet switch one time, then press and hold valet switch. While holding valet switch press lock button on remote. System should respond with a chirp/flashing parking lights. Release switch and remote and turn ignition off. Test remote.

How to reprogram a key fob for a 2006 ford 500

You are in luck! You can program a 2006 Ford Five Hundred key fob yourself and don't need to go to a dealer or professional. The steps are pretty easy, it's the timing of the steps that you have to pay attention to. You most likely will not get the programming correct on the first try, keep at it, you will get it.

Here are the key fob programming instructions for a 2006 Ford Five Hundred:
*** THERE ARE 2 POSSIBLE PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES. ***Procedure #1Note: Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle.
Note: Do not depress the brake pedal during procedure.
  1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode. (Off is the position where you can remove your key, RUN is the position just shy of starting your car.)
  2. Within 20 seconds press any button on the first keyless remote to be programmed. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. If you only have one remote then skip to step 4.
  3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming. Repeat step 3. For all other remotes.
  4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Procedure #2Note: Obtain all remote transmitters for this vehicle.1Fasten seat belts and close all doors.
  5. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 4 times within 6 seconds, with the 4th time ending in RUN. (Off is the position where you can remove your key, RUN is the position just shy of starting your car.)
  6. Turn ignition to OFF. Acoustic signal will sound and system warning lamp will illuminate to confirm programming mode.
  7. Within 10 seconds, press and hold any button on the first keyless remote. Wait for acoustic sound and warning lamp to flash (confirming programming) then release button on remote. Wait 2 seconds but within 10 seconds repeat step 4. For all other remotes. If you only have one remote then continue to step 5.
  8. Turn ignition to Crank or wait 10 seconds to end programming mode.
Make sure you have a spare key fob too. You can save a bunch of money ordering a spare key fob online at:

Aps57c can't learn tachometer

Yes, the seven flashes indicate that the system did not learn tach. Do you have the tach wire connected at the coil or an injector? If so, turn the ignition on, press and release the programming button three times, turn the ignition off. Press and hold the programming button, start the vehicle. Continue to hold the programming button. The parking light should be flashing at this time. after about 15 seconds, release the programming button, the parkings will come solid and then go off. Turn the vehicle off, the tach is now programmed. Test the system.
If the tach wire is not connected, you can program the system for tachless/voltage.
Turn the ignition on, press and release the programming button three times, turn the ignition off. Turn the ignition on,off, on, then press the programming button 5 times ( the parking lights will flash five times, press the lock button on the remote three times. This will put your setting at voltage. The setting for crank time is still set at averging so, you will have to start the vehicle four(4) times with the key so the remote starter can average the crank time.

I have the alarm system hooked up, i have the remote start hooked up as well but its not turning over and starting the car. it flashes 7 times, (parking lights) do i need to install the starter inhibit...

The seven flashes of the parking lights when you attempt to remote start is the tach signal not being programmed. If you hooked up the tach wire already, turn the ignition on, press and release the programming switch three times. Turn the key off, press and hold the programming switch and start the car. Continue to hold the programming switch while the vehicle runs. The parking lights will be flashing while the tach is being programming. Hold for at least 15 seconds for a good signal. This allows the engine to "smooth out" into a normal idle rpm.
If the parking lights are not flashing, the tach is not being programmed. You may have skipped a step during the set up for the programming or, you have the wrong tach wire. If you went to a injector or coil wire, it is the uncommon wire. This means that there exists two or three wires at the injectors/coil packs. One or two of the wires are the same color at all of the injectors/coil packs and one wire is a different color at each injector/coil pack.

Sometimes when I press the starter button, my car with crank for a little bit, then won't start but the car is still on. I normally press the starter button again to turn off the car, then press it again....

These issues can both be solved through programming. The crank time needs to be extended and the door locks (may) need to be set to double pulse. Can you unlock the doors by pressing the unlock button twice within one second?

Please read all the way through to familiarize yourself with the process before beginning.

Let's try the programming; you will need the vehicle key and the remote. The control/programming switch is located in the antenna on the windshield.

Turn the key on then off; press and hold the control button on the antenna to select the menu. One honk of the horn/flash of the parking lights indicates menu one(1). Now, press and release the button five (5) times (door lock pulses), then press and hold the button. While holding the control button on the antenna, press the lock button on the remote once. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. The system is now set for double pulse unlock. DO NOT RELEASE THE CONTROL BUTTON.

We will now advance to the third menu; release the control button, immediately press and hold the control button. After three seconds the system will begin to advance to the next menu. You will hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Continue to hold the control button to advance to the third menu. You will hear three horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Now, press and release the control button three times, then press and hold the control button. While holding the control button, press and release the lock button on the remote. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Two flashes/horn honks is .8 seconds cranking time. Release control button. Turn ignition on to exit programming/learn routine. Test the system.

If after testing the system , you require a longer cranking time; re-enter the programming/learn routine, menu three, option three and press the lock button on the remote once to advance to one(1) second cranking time.

The programming/learn routine exits if the ignition is turn on, the control button is pressed too many times or there is no activity for 30 seconds.

I have a viper 791xv carstarter/alarm the battery had to be replaced on the car and the alarm works but the remote sart won't start the car on key pad it shows it 's start but then it beeps and is gone...

The parking light flashes are a diagnostic report to alert you to the reason the remote starter is not working:

5 flashes; brake wire is active
6 flashes; hood pin is active
7 flashes; manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized
8 flashes; neutral safety wire has no ground or the switch is OFF.

Count the flashes and you will be able to go directly to the problem. Enjoy.

Pres remote starter Model APS-901, the remote will start the vehicle but then it immediately shuts off

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POST BEFORE BEGINNING

There are several reasons that could cause the remote starter to shutdown immediately after it starts:

1. It may be the lack of a tachometer signal. Did you hook up the green/orange wire to a uncommon wire at a coil or fuel injector? If not, did you program the remote starter for tachless? If you didn't hook up the tach wire, no problem; let's program the remote starter for tachless:
Turn ignition on, press and release programming switch three times. The parking lights will flash one time. Turn key off, then on, then off, then on. You are now in bank three (remote starter programming). Press and release the programming button five times. The parking lights will flash the number of the times for the setting for this feature. If you have not attempted to progarm the unit, it will flash two times (default setting is for TACH). Press and release the start button on the remote once, it will flash three times; press and release the start button again, it will flash once. The unit is now programmed for voltage. Turn the key off. If you have not attempted to do any programming on the unit, the default setting for crank averaging is AVERAGING. This means that you will have to start the vehicle at least four times with the key to be effective. Test the system.

If the problem still exists, let's try this:
2. If you did not hook up the tach wire and you already had the unit programmed for voltage and, the remote starter shuts down (probably when the parking lights come on); the 901 is seeing a drop in voltage and you need to hook up the tach wire. Connect the green/orange wire to an uncommon wire at a fuel injector or coil. An uncommon wire is one that is a different color, at the same pin location, on each coil or injector. For example; compare two fuel injectors: if they are two pin connectors you may see an orange and a pink. At the next injector you may see an orange and a blue. The orange is the common wire and the pink and the blue are uncommon wires. You may connect the green/orange to either one of the uncommon wires. After the wire is connected, turn the ignition on, press and release the programming button three times. The parking kights flash once. Turn the key off. Press and HOLD the programming button, start the vehicle. The parking lights will begin to flash, continue to hold programming button for approximately 15 second. Release the programming button, the parking lights will come on then, go off. The tach is now programmed. Turn vehicle off. Refer to the above section for remote starter programming features in bank three. Test system.
Remember: If you did hook up the tach wire there is no need to program the 901 for tach. Tach is the default setting.

3. If the remote starter still continues to shut down, the problem may be with your need for an immobilizer bypass. You failed to mention the year/make/model of the vehicle so, try inserting the key into the ignition then, remote start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts and runs, you will need to bypass the "chip" in the key for the remote starter to function as desired.

Cannot get to work with manual transmission please help with any ideas?

There are several steps necessary for the unit to function with manual transmission. Now,the unit comes programmed for manual transmission out of the box. Next, the neutral safety wire (thin black with white stripe) MUST be connected to the parking brake wire. Also, the tachometer wire MUST be connected. Check the neutral safety switch as well. Did you install a clutch bypass? All that is left is the system setup for remote start: Start the vehicle with the key, make sure all doors are closed, put the vehicle in neutral, press on the brake, apply parking brake, release brake, within 15 seconds remote start the vehicle, the parking lights will flash to confirm the remote start activation, turn the ignition off ( the vehicle should stay running.Exit the vehicle. Arm the alarm ( the vehicle should shut off). You are now able to operate the remote start. This process must be done each time you exit for the remote starter to function on a manual transmission vehicle. Don't worry ,you'll get used to it.

Installed the prestige remote start(aps687n) on my 95 jeep grand cherokee but when i try to remote start my parking lights just flash 7 times and nothing happens. Any ideas???

Yes, the seven flashes mean that the tachometer setting has not been programmed. If you hooked up a tach wire (green with orange stripe) to an uncommon coil or injector wire, then you have to program tach: turn ignition on, press and release programming switch three (3) times. The parking lights will flash once to confirm. Turn ignition off. Press and hold programming switch. While holding the programming switch, start the vehicle. The parking lights will flash to confirm that the remote starter is getting a tach signal from the vehicle. Continue to hold the switch for approximately 15 seconds. The parking lights will continue to flash while holding the switch. Release the programming switch. The parking lights will come on solid for one second, then go off. The tach is not programmed. Turn ignition off. Test system.
