Gas burners on top of stove work but broiler & oven do not heat up.

Hello'
Does your model have an electronic ignition? If so open broiler drawer ,turn on oven and look for bright orange glow. May take a few seconds. If it glows but no or poor flame .replace oven igniter. If no glow at all , check for voltage at igniter when switched on to see if it may be oven thermostat . Get a tech to test if not sure. All easy to fix.

Hope this helps

SET DIGITAL THERMOSTAT TO SAY 350 DEGREES WILL NOT TURN ON OVEN,,, ? IF I SET TO BROIL BROIL WORKS BUT OVEN WILL NOT TURN ON ?

Possibly the ignitor for the main oven burner has failed--

An observation question:

When the Broiler 'lights' and comes on, do you notice the ignitor glowing bright, before the gas valve (to the Broiler) opens, and you get the Broiler lighting---

Now-- for the main burner to come on, -- there has to be a similar bright glow from the MAIN BURNER ignitor, before its main burner gas valve can open-- No Ignitor?-- No ignition, and not Main Oven burner!

Let me know what you need from this point on --

Can light the oven pilot light but it won't stay on when I turn the dial to oven temperature. I cleaned the oven prior to this problem with spray on oven cleaner.

I have a 2003 maytag performa stove and i turn the oven on but sometimes it takes a while to come on and smells like gas so and lately i cant get the flames going. i see that the pilot glows but still know flame coming from tubes.

My Amanda gas oven Model no. AGS781WW is not heating up in the oven, nor does the broiler come on. The electronic ignition glows, I don't smell any gas in the oven. The cooktop comes on fine.

even if the ignitor glows it may not be getting hot enough to light the gas. if it does not get hot enough the gas valve should not open. try changing the ignitor, usually 30 - 60 dollars.

Oven takes 5 minutes to come on (ignite).

Replaced the igniter. The parts guy told me that the amperage changes with age and use; thus the igniter still glows, but it takes much longer to operate the gas valve with the reduced amperage. Cost - $70.14

My Amana gas oven won't heat up gas smell strong

Sounds like a sticking gas valve or a defective hot surface igniter. Open the broiler drawer or remove the bottom cover in the oven compartment. The oven usually has a hot surface igniter or a spark igniter. Turn on the oven and watch for the hot surface igniter to start glowing. It should glow very bright. Once it is glowing the burner gas should come on. If you hear the gas come on it should light right away. If there is any delay shut off the oven and stay back. Let the gas clear out then inspect the area near the igniter and make sure the burner is not plugged(the little holes may have debris in them). If you turn on the oven and the igniter comes, glows brightly,no gas is heard but you can smell gas it is either a blocked burner orfice/assembly or sticking gas control valve. Try giving the burner and gas control valve a tap and see if it comes on. If you tap the control valve and it starts working then shut of the oven and try it several times. If it starts to come on and off now you may have cleared whatever debris was causing the problem. If it does it again then it could be the control valve or a weak hot surface igniter. The igniter can be tested with a ohm meter. Most of the time when I get this complaint it is the oven control valve that is sticking. Be very careful when doing these procedures....gas can build up in the oven compartment very quicky and flash if ignited. Always have the gas shut off valve at the back of the range within reach and the electrical outlet in case you need to unplug it.

MY BROIL ELEMENT WON'T IGNITE ON MY MGS5870ADW MATAG GAS RANGE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT PART TO ORDER. BACK ELEMENT OR IGNITER IS GLOWING RED.

It could be that the ignitor is weak and only partially heating which could be causing the gas control valve not to open and allowing the gas to flow into the broiler burner tube.

I would also suggest you see if you can smell gas to confirm that the gas supply valve is actually opening up. With the oven door closed, turn on the broiler and after 20-30 seconds of having the ignitor glowing red, turn off the broiler control and open the door and see if you can smell gas, if not it could be either a weak ignitor or a faulty gas control valve.

I would suggest that before you start ordering parts, you swap out the oven ignitor with the broiler ignitor to verify that the broiler ignitor is the problem. It could also be the broiler tube has a blockage of some sort possibly from cooking debris, that is preventing gas from flowing into the tube.

Here's a diagram for your unit along with the parts list.

FGF374 - Broiler and Bake does not stay on

The flame sensor has to prove the flame to stay lit. When it fails, the valve closes.

Maytag gas oven mgr5770abb Does not light when I try to use oven. Broiler works fine. When I try to turn on the oven, the broiler igniter does not glow. If the bottom igniter was bad, wouldn't the top one...

first I would check to see if you have power (120v) at the bake igniter..when you set in to bake...use a multmeter..(when you turn on the oven to bake only the bottom igniter will come )

good luck be safe

let me know if I can help
