My Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washing Machine is showing a F28 error. What does that mean?

F28 is a communication error which usually means there is a connection that has come loose. Removing the top and unpplugging and replugging the connectors in will fix 75% of these codes. If the bottom toe panel is not on it will also give you an F28

Resolution: Error code F28 = Serial Communication Error. Error codes can be caused by a Power Surge or other electrical anomaly,attempt to return the washer to operation by following the Hard Reset procedure below. In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

• Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
• Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
• Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the display.
• Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

Note: If the Hard Reset does not work, there may be an internal failure with the washer, that requires service.

We had an f26 code looked that up tightened the locking mechanism and now we have an f28 code.... what do I do now
