The turntable keeps rotating when the dooe is open - Panasonic T994SFR

The manufacturing date is May2005 on my model of the microwave. This strange things started happening couple of weeks back. We tried to reset & unplug for couple of hours, but as soon as you open the turntable slowly starts to rotate.
Also, in the past the door didnot click properly, so could not operate the oven. Is this somehow related to the door latch? Hope there is no microwave leaking when the door is open.
Is there any recall on this model?

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or occasionally a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

We have critical safety & disassembly info (including a how-to video) at our site, linked here.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

You probably have a shorted main relay on your control board, which I can repair. Details here.

FixYa doesn't notify me when there's a response, so if you have other questions, please contact me directly.

Panasonic microwave plate not rotating

Hi and Welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Your microwave turntable motor is either stuck or has failed. These motors are quite frail internally. Without a model number I can not give you the correct replacement part number. There are 7 different turntable motor part numbers for Panasonic Microwaves. Note that 5 of the 7 part numbers are NOT available and the other 2 are out of stock with a 7 - 14 day back order using my resources to search for the parts. There maybe universal turntable motor I could point you to but again it depends on your model number.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Panasonic Microwave Model NN-H765BF will rotate occasionally and not rotate occasionally. If I manually rotate the glass plate, I can feel the gear reduction.

The turntable system typically consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

Here is a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven.

You can order parts Encompass here or call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Turntable wheel under glass tray broken

If the microwave comes with a roller ring to rotate the glass turntable then I would recommend that it needs to be used when the microwave is operating, as the turntable rotates the food so it can be heated evenly.

I would recommend checking with your local Panasonic repairer he may have access to a new roller or even a second hand one to tide you over.

Microwave Turntable doesn't spin

Hi
Sounds like the turntable motor has packed up.
Normally this is located underneath the microwave and should be readily available as a spare part.
BE WARNED i would NOT suggest taking the cover of the machine. There is a capacitor in there which stores 5000 volt and if you dont know what you are doing it can kill.

How to get the plate to rotate

I'm assuming you are talking about the turntable tray. If it's not rotating, make sure your microwave does not have a feature that allows you to disable the turntable rotation (refer to your owner's manual). If it's not a simple operator function, you more than likely have a defective turntable motor. The motor is located under the bottom of the microwave oven. It is a simple repair that requires minimal tools. If you wish to attempt a repair yourself, please post your complete model number (located aorund the door opening) and I can locate a part number for you. I hope this helps you.

Panasonic Microwave Turn table rotates when door is open

Found this Panasonic post in the Samsung section!

If it moves just a tiny bit when the door opens and then stops, that's normal.

If it keeps running when the door is open, that's usually due to a bad door switch or broken / loose door switch mount.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
