Happend twice to me. What sometimes happens is that the paper roll was not changed at the time the ink was. Therefore the paper roll was allowed to remain in the printer until the very last sheet. On the last sheet there is a sticker that says paper out. (stupid idea) This sticker makes the last sheet of paper too thick to fit through the last paper guide / feed. Because of this, the ink film breaks and that specific error message is displayed until that last piece of 4x6 is pulled from the paper feed. Clear that out, and all is good.. Change the paper every time u change the ink.

This was not the case. I saw no sticker. Looks like plenty of paper left. It still says there is a paper jab or ribbon is broken and it is not

look for lost paper cuts...if you don't remove them before transporting your printer they can get "all up in" the printer parts and cause it jam. To remove them, I took out the paper and ink ribbon and spent a good hour or so removing them with a bamboo skewer and tweezers. Be careful of the wiring! when you think your done pick up the printer rotate it a bit then open it back up, and you'll find a lot more!

Check the paper feed tray for bent papers. Also, try blowing over the sensors to clear any debris. Check for small pieces that may have been left behind. If all fails, unplug it from the outlet, then start it up. Good luck!

Ink ribbon was chewed up in my son snap lab and resulted in paper jam. I cleared the jam and repaired the ink ribbon and it still is reading that error. How can I fix this?

You must open up the front where the roll goes. Lay the printer back, and look up top where the paper ejects. you should see some of the paper in the feed. Pull that out with a tweezers.

Beware. I sent my printer to Sony and they tried to get me for a new cutter and thermal head. Close to $500. I then realized the problem because it happened on another unit I own. I told them to ship it back unrepaired and I fixed it myself.
Hope this helps

What you could try is let the printer to reset.
Remove both ink cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer.
Unplug printer from electrical outlet.
Wait 15 minutes. This will let the printer to clear memory.
Plug printer back in.
Turn on printer, printer would cycle to the start position.
E5 error would appear.
Install ink cartridges.
If nothing is in the printer that prevent the printer from recycling.
There should be no paper jam error.

As soon as I started using recycled ink cartridges, I started getting a paper jam error on my printer. The control panel message instructs me to remove the back panel and clear paper jam. I've done this several times but there is no paper to clear and the message keeps coming back. I've tried turning of the printer and unplugging it to clear the memory, but that doesn't help. Could it be that the chip on the ink cartridge is messing with the printer's operating system?

Carriage jam means the carriage, where you put the inks, can't move right to left properly. Sometimes ink on the clear strip behind it is the cause. You can carefully clean with damp Q-tip, and check also that the cleaning assembly on the right where the printhead parks, is not stuck.
