Check the power supply, but more likely to be bad VR3 Voltage regulator IC.
The root cause of the problem is due to bad 3.3V Voltage regulator VR3 on the main board, it is putting out more than 3.3v which caused the mointor sensing circuits which is use to find out if the correct power supply is being used with monitor to malfunction. If you do not change the regulator, it will cause more damage since the voltage will be too high. Taping off the pin is a band aid fix but more damage will occur.

Monitor won't come on. it blinks with a light and then goes off.

You have shorted transistors (c5707) in the inverter circuits, also need to check for poor solder joints and the tuning caps in the inverter transformers driving section.

THE MONITER QUIT WORKING AND THE LIGHT IS BLINKING WITH A BLACK SCREEN

The light is blinking can indicate two things, one- it see short circuit such as short circuit in the backlight inverter board, this board consume most of the power and runs hot, so it trying to shut itself off, two- the power supply is bad, look for bad filter capacitors, which is more likely, for bulging top, learn more here:

I have Dish Network Remote but there is no LG TV Code. How can I get?

8006
Thats a goldstar code and the buzz on the web is it works 50% of the time.

I just found this as well never tried it but it may work good luck

you want to know the code to put in just do these steps:
1. press and hold the tv button till the all the top buttons turn red
2. press the # button twice
3. the tv light will blink out the code to you. It will blink the first number then a pause then blink the 2nd number then a pause then blink the third number. For Sony2.gif you will see 5 blinks, pause, short blink, pause, short blink. (short blink means a zero) the code for sony is 500
4. Thats it!
