"0 not found" Error message when using DVD player on laptop

Have an IBM ThinkPad that has a cdrw/dvd drive. When I use the cdrw/dvd drive for dvds, I get a "0 not found" error message. The dvd does start to run on windows media player (and Interactual DVD player when I try it), but the error message pops up and stops the player. The movie is still showing behind the message box and will resume when I click on the OK in the message box, but just seconds later the error message comes back and stops the movie again. As long as the OK is clicked the movie will play and sound is present.

I can use the cd player without any error messages, but the dvd player always brings up the error message.

Any ideas as to what is going on ????

Thanks,

I have a Thinkpad T61P running Vista Ultimate x64 with a DVD/RW, and have the exact same problem. Error, "0 not found". The bundled WindDVD software as well as Windows Media Player give the same results. However, when I reboot into Ubuntu, no problem. DVD's play just fine. So it *cannot* be a hardware problem. It must be either Windows, drivers, or the codec, or some combination of any.

I am also having a same problem. When I try to play a video on my IBM Thinkpad T43 I get the error message 0 Not Found.

This is generally an indication that the DVD end of the drive is going out. First try a different or updated DVD decoding software. It could just be a simple glitch with the software, or that the software is outdated.

I AM A LAYMAN USING T43 IBM THINKPAD.CD/DVD DOES NOT WRITE BUT CAN RED.PL.ADVISE ( on the slot is written CD RW DVD ROM

If you are trying to write to a DVD, you should know that this drive does NOT record DVDs. It should record CDs with no problem. If you haven't changed the operating system, It should be a breese. Other wise, the drive could be bad.

Did you get a complete set of IBM "System Recovery" CDs/DVDs?
If so, then reinstall Microsoft Windows, which will install all the IBM-provided software to support the DVD drive.

If you did not get those CDs/DVDs, you will need to contact IBM/Lenovo, and for about $60 (shipping included), obtain a replacement set.

Difficulty using an external mouse on my IBM Thinkpad T60 laptop

Sometimes a usb mouse requires a driver to install before it can be functional. You can go to the manufacturers website of the mouse and download the driver in accordance with your operating system.
If you have a dvd optical drive than it should say on the face plate of the dvd drive or even in device manger listing. Otherwise, you may simply need to downlaod windows codec pack or use VLC player to play the movie.

Thinkpad 2647 No sound on CD or DVD

Call IBM/Lenovo. For about $60, they will provide a complete set of "Recovery CDs" for the ThinkPad. That software will include a DVD-player and the correct sound-drivers. Or, check IBM's "support" web-site -- you may be able to download the correct drivers.

Ibm t23 laptop dvd rom not reading some dvds

Sounds like you need a DVD decoding software, ie... winvid, interdvd, and powerdvd. Windows media player will play some DVD's, but many DVD's, especially newer ones, need an additional decoder in order to work. You will be able to find the software at filehippo.com, download.com, or IBM's support site. Keep in mind that burning software, ie... nero, roxio, and dvd shrink, have decoders in order to burn the DVD, so they will work as a decoder in conjunction with your media player.

T23 notebook

Yes no problem.

Sure they made DVD writers for those - usually about $80-100.
If you just want a CD burner and DVD player they are only $40-$60.

You can easily eject the drive by hitting the release lever to the right of the CD drive.

The CDRW/DVD combo part numbers are 08K9820 22P6980 08K9818 or 13N6765

They have cdrw/dvd combos for $34 at compuvest.com brand new. I saw DVDrw drives for $70 on ebay -look for part numbers 08k9868, 08K9694, 08K9572, 08K9818, 08K9820, 08K9867, 22P9109, 22P7011, 22P6991, 08k9785, 27L4358, 08k9784, 27L4359

DVD-RW IBM A31 Thinkpad problem

I take it you are trying to "send to" files to the DVD-RW?You can't burn a DVD just with windows XP . It only supports CDRW drives.

Get commercial software like Roxio or Nero, or download a free CD burning program like this one:

DVD

Hi,
I don't mean to disagree with my associate, but DVD players for R series (or T, A, etc) can be found for less than 20.00 US (Ebay is a good example)
For that matter, we've got at least a dozen at our shop which we sell for 25.00
Installation is very simple as well, just pop the old drive out, put the new drive in.
Good luck
