ECS motherboard dont start up when i clear the cmos

The eMachines T2200 Desktop PC uses an ECS L7VMM2 motherboard,

Click on Download.
[ Features/ Specification/ Download/ FAQ/ CPU/ Pinout ]

Click on Manual.
[ Driver/ BIOS/ Manual ]

At the bottom to the right of - Download Site,
click on the name of the country nearest yours.

In the small window that comes up on the right, make sure there is a green dot in the small circle, to the left of - Save File.
If not click on the small circle to the left of - Save File.
Now go to the bottom of the window, and click on OK.

Look at the top of the small window to the left. This tells you where the file will download to.
When you see the file name DOUBLE-click on it, and Extract all files. It is a Zip file.
Now DOUBLE-click on the red Adobe PDF icon, next to the extracted files.

A) JP5 jumper is right below the Ram Memory slots.
CPU Frequency Jumper.
(Processor; change internal clock frequency - jumper)

Vertical placement. 3-pin jumper. The TOP pin is number 1 pin.

With the jumper on Pins 1 and 2, the frequency is 100MegaHertz.
With the jumper on Pins 2 and 3, the frequency set is 133MHz.

B) The small 4-pin connector above the CMOS battery is for an internal speaker. (For BIOS Beep Codes)

The small 3-pin jumper that is Horizontally placed above it, is the JP1 jumper.
Clear CMOS Jumper.

The pin all the way to the Right, is the number 1 pin.

With the jumper on Pins 1 and 2, the setting is Normal.
With the jumper on Pins 2 and 3, you are trying to clear cmos settings.

From manual;

"To clear the CMOS memory, disconnect all the power cables from the motherboard, and then move the jumper cap onto the CLEAR setting for a few seconds."

Ummm, NO.

Unplug the computer from power. Put the jumper cap on pins 2 and 3 for 5 seconds. Remove from Pins 2 and 3, and put back on Pins 1 and 2.
Plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Geez!

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased. Hope this helps

onbly jumpers on that board should be for bios cmos clear. the cpu setting snd such are to be adjusted inside the bios setup utility.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper

The Bios can be cleared in 2 ways

1) As you have mentioned above, the battery can be taken out but it should be left out for at least 10 - 15 minutes

2) If this fails you can do a 2 pin short, please look in the motherboard manual, it will tell you where to find this component, all you need to do is to move the jumper from the 2 pins it is sitting on to anohter 2 pins behind it, leave for 2 seconds and then put it back (ensure there is NO power going to the motherboard when this is done)

Both of the above will clear BIOS

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard.

Open the CPU casing locate the CMOS battery in motherboard and remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper.

This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
Many RTC's require an external battery. If your RTC is one of this type, you can clear the BIOS password just by unsocketing the RTC and reseating it. Good luck!

if you dont want to read, it is at the left of the battery , marked as jp1. usually the 1-2 pins are the normal operation, 2-3 pins to clear. Please notice that no power supply needs to be connected to the computer at he time of clear!

Bios clear takes abaut a half minute, then restore the jumper and power on the computer.

did you put the jumper back in correctly ??

if yes then
1.) unplug the system
2.) remove the cmos battery and the rams (memory)
3.) press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
4.) replace the battery and the rams
5.) plug it back in and turn it on
6.) if it boots, enter the cmos setup and load optimised defaults
