Did the system come originally with a Windows XP Os or Vista. If it came with Windows XP pack then, you should also be provided with a recovery disk, which you can use for the purpose. If you have changed the OS, it will be difficult for you to install the driver. You can go to HP support website and get all the relevant drivers for this. Even you can select the model number. still if it doesnt work, it could be a hardware issue. Send it for a depot repair. Good Luck.
I would try a newer operating system like Windows 7 which is the current operating system supported by Microsoft and likely would install the audio driver automatically off of the Internet.
If you're set on XP running it, try to search for the driver on the HP.com website under 'v3000z driver'.
