Enter your calibre code (its on the back of your watch, it will explain which numbers to you on the website), you'll then be able to download an instruction manual for your watch, this will detail how to adjust hands to their corect starting position :)

I checked on the web site but couldn't find your model but I did find the instructions site, which may be able to confirm if the operation you describe is normal.
To download the information, it is necessary to enter numbers fri=om the back of your watch so I suggest you follow this path:-
Go to "www.seikowatches.com", select "products" from the top of your screen.
Go to the bottom of the screen and select from the menu on the left "instructions on how to use your watch" and follow the instructions.

As jimmyguru said.
1. Pull the crown to the second position (all the way out)
2. Push and hold the reset button and allow the chronograph hand to rotate near the 12 o'clock position.
3. Release the reset button.
4. Repeatedly push and release the reset button to find tune the hand position until it is right at 12 o'clock.
5. Push the crown back in.
