SOURCE: How do I connect my laptop to my home theatre system?

The best idea would be to get an audio interface, providing that your home theatre has an IN such as left and right phono. hese can be found for around 60 GBP. A chaeper alternative would be to buy and adapter which splits headphone to phono although an audio interface would allow you to send sound from you theatre in to your laptop as well.

If your television has RCA style audio/video output you can use an audio RCA cable (red & white connectors) and simply plug from the 'output' of your television into the auxilliary input on the back of the HT-BD2.

Then select AUX on the HT-BD2 remote, whenever you wish to listen to the television audio.

It's possible that you have the wrong speaker set (A or B). Look for that button and change the setting and see if that works

CAN AN IPHONE 6 PLAY THROUGH MY ONKYO HT-S5100 AUDIO SYSTEM THAT HAS A DEDICATED IPOD DOCK

The included i-Pod dock is the DS-A1 and it is not compatible with any iPhone. It's compatible with the third (select versions) through fifth generation iPods. It can also work with the IPod nano (first and second generation), iPod mini and iPod Photo. On the Crutchfield product page, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GQfUerwopyn/p_580DSA1/Onkyo-DS-A1.html, look at the Details tab for a complete list of compatible devices.

You can find this list also in the HT-S5100 manual (page 65) and the DS-A1 manual (page 6). The direct links to both of these manuals are http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/HT-S5100_En_A.pdf and http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/DSA1.pdf .

I wish that I had better news for you.

I have just installed a HT-S6100 at home and works perfectly with a Blue Ray Samsung player (via HDMI). I also have a Sony DVD player with component cables I want to connect to my HT-S6100. I followed the...

There seems to be a lot of this type of lack of signal (video, audio or both) with this system. I have the same system and the same problem. Mine is working now. I'm using all HDMI connections. I think the other important thing to do is "delete" all Input Assignments that are not being used. By "delete" I mean set the Input Assignments to "----". Let me know if this helps.

I have the Onkyo HT-S5100, the 5 speaker are set

also, you might have to search through the menu of the receiver, and set the surround back speakers to be zone 2 instead of using the 7.1 configuration that is probably default.

i think zone 2 will only play sources that are hooked up with analog connects, ie. red/white cables. try using the radio to see if it works. you might have to hook up your cable/sat box, cd player, dvd player, whatever you have that you want to listen to with both digital and analog cables to get everything to work right.

No audio from my PS3 through the Onkyo 5100 7.1

if you are using an HDMI cable dont expect sound to come out (even thought HDMI carries both audio and video) the onkyo HT-s5100's Receiver is the HT-r560. the 500 models of the onkyo receiver does not allow HDMI to carry both audio and video. it only allows the video signal to pass to the receiver.

if youre using optical for audio w/c is what you need then these are the steps you need to follow.
*first make sure that the optical connections are ok at the back of the receiver.
*make sure that your DIGITAL INPUT is set to either OPT1 or OPT2 whichever optical input you used to connect the optical cable.
*then go to your PS# settings : go to sound settings / audio moutput settings/ select digital out (optical).

then enjoy.....ü
