Just buying magnum s9 radio can it be used on 11 metre band or has it got to be modified for 26-27 cept channels as i think its just a 10 metre radio please advise many thanks.

To recieve signals on 10 or 11 metres with the same antenna is usually without problem, it's when you try transmitting that the correct antenna length is vital. If it's not correct, you can , at the least, get very little power being radiated, and at worst, the power going back into the transmitter and cooking it. If you have to ask these questions, you should not be on the 10 m amateur band anyway.

Its very easy on this radio because it has a built in frequency counter. I can't remember off the top of my head but its most likely band letter A, then turn the channel selector to 19. If you are on the CB channel 19, the frequency counter will read 27.1850.

If band A channel 19 is not 27.1850 then leave the channel selector on 19 and flip through the band letters until it reads 27.1850. once you have found it, that letter is the CB band. channels 1 - 40 of the cb band.

The Magnum 257 is a 10-meter Amateur radio, but it can be easily modified to operate on the 11-meter CB radio band. The modification and use of this radio on the CB frequencies is, of course, illegal. To modify one of the newer blue-faced models (this will not work on the original yellow-face models), remove the speaker side cover and look for the CPU board in the front of the radio close to the mic connector. This board has four sets of pins and a jumper that fits on the pins. To convert/expand the radio, move the connector to the CON3 position. This will give you frequency coverage from 25.165 to 29.699 MHZ, and the CB frequencies will be on Band E of the radio. Again, this modification, and use of the radio on the CB frequencies, is illegal. This modification information is provided for shop/calibration and experimental use only.

Thailand actually has three "CB" bands, the first is the same as the U.S. / CEPT (EU "European Community) band 26.965 - 27.405 MHz, the second is a 78MHz VHF mid CB band (I think its either 40 or 80 channels with FM mode) and then the 245.0000 - 245.9875 MHz VHF 80 channel band - apparently the law also stipulates that the 78MHz CBs must be yellow colored and the 245MHz CBs must be red colored.

But yeah, 245MHz Thailand VHF CBs are very illegal in the United States.

Generally All CB Radios will only push 4 watts. This is only if you have a SWR of 1:1

The DX 45mp is a 10 meter radio meaning you need a license to use any other band other than the normal 1- 40 cb channels, its capable of going beyond the normal cb range.Ask if it has been converted to 11 meter. Channel E should be the normal if it has been converted from 10 meter to 11 meter. Im sure its been converted if its been used for a mobile cb application. Normal cb band is called 11 meter 26.965 mhz to 27.405 thats 1- 40 . Your not supposed to talk on the other bands unless you have an amature radio license but everyone does anyway . I have several galaxys and by far in my opinion are the best on the market. There is no factory made 10 meter CB Radio made for US use. CB Radios use 11 meters, and the FCC doesn't allow the combination of 10 and 11 meter radios combines. Although, many people modify 10 meter radios to work on the 11 meter ( CB ) band, it's not legal. Good Luck
