I was chatting with Daniel S. about a Maytag dishwasher that the lock #3 light was on.I took the number pad out and checked for water or wiring problems with the ribbion or pads and there was nothing that I could see wrong. All wires were like new and tight in connector. Any more suggestions?

there should be 2 buttons on the control pad, that when pressed simultaneously for 3 seconds will unlock the control.

The model indicated: MDB5651A does not have display and the error codes are shown like flashing lights. If that is your model and problem please just tell me what lights are flashing.

In Maytag with display instead, the L on display means that the machine is control locked. That is not an error message, but a code telling that the machine has been locked by the user (probably by mistake since you are the user).

I quote from Maytag technical documentation:

? If a cycle or option pad is pressed after the controls have been locked, the indicator light next to lock graphic will flash five times. On selected models with a countdown display, the display will flash the symbol "L" simultaneously with lock indicator.

? This option does not lock the door, only the dishwasher controls.

To set :
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. An indicator light next to the lock graphic will illuminate when the controls are locked.

To Cancel Control Lock:
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. The indicator light will go off as instructed.

Try pressing the the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. If that doesn't work disconnect power. Connect back and try again unlock (power off does not remove the lock). If that still does not work there may be a faulty part. In that case turn appliance off and give me the full model number.

Start holding down the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. In normal conditions that is enough to get rid of the L and of control lock.

It may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

press and hold the heated dry button 3 seconds it will unlock the dishwasher. That 3 with the lock around it show you that the dishwasher has been locked out to keep buttons from being able to be pushed. You can lock it and unlock it by holding the heated dry button 3 seconds.

depress the lock emblem on the touch pad and hold it down for 5-10 seconds. If the light lock does not go off then that means your LED touch pad is defective. Check in your owners manual for any warranty information on your touch pad. Most maytag offers 5 yr limited warranty on electronic parts which covers your touch pad.

any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes
5 times. The dishwasher door can be opened while the
controls are locked.

To turn off Lock, press and hold Heated Dry for at least
3 seconds.

THE 3 SEC LIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND WE CAN NOT RUN THE DISHWASHER

to reset the change filter light:
Press hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3 sec.)
Dispenser lock:
to interrupt power to the water and ice dispenser so it cannot be used , press the lock pad 3 times within 10 seconds.

Pard, does your serial number end with either WS or WU? If so, Maytag had a issue with the main board, triac shorting and possibley damaging the motor windings. If your serial numbers fall under this, you are probably covered under the service flash. Im not really sure what you mean by the 3 second button flashing. Check the numbers first and post back.
