Check to see if the door switch is working. When you push and release it, it should click. If not, it will need to be replaced. If the switch is good, then the only other component that would cause that problem is the thermal fuse. If you could post your model number I could direct you to the part you need.
I found the Sears website put in your model number and usually get a accurate drawing of parts and how to troubleshoot shoot. It sounds like the temperature overheat fuse blew which is which is common for those style dryers. You check the YouTube how-to videos first
cutiepie, I've seen this many times on these dryers. You need to replace the door hinge. Not really a hard job to do. Post a model number (inside door) and we'll get you a part number...Catriver..post back.
